About this listen
USA Today best-selling author Ralph Cotton writes about the Old West with equal parts glorified action and gritty authenticity. In Riders from Long Pines, Cotton crafts a sharp shoot-’em-up that is sure to broaden his already expansive fan base. When a band of drovers stumbles upon the goods that were left behind after a botched robbery, they decide to do the moral thing and take the money to its rightful owner. But there’s an outlaw after the prize, and it’ll take the gunslinging know-how of Arizona Ranger Sam Burrack to keep the money truly safe.

Two of the Johnstones’ most legendary heroes—the rugged mountain man known as Preacher and the Scottish clan rancher Jamie Ian MacCallister, here together for the first time—are forced to choose sides in a blood-soaked battle for the heart and soul of a nation divided. This is not the American dream they were looking for. This is a nightmare. Lucas knows the perfect night entails just three things: video games, wine, and pad thai. Peanuts are a must! Other people? Not so much. Why complicate things when he’s happy alone? Then one day the apartment board, a vexing trio of authority, rings his doorbell. And Lucas’s solitude takes a startling hike. They demand to see his frying pan. Someone left one next to the recycling room overnight, and instead of removing the errant object, as Lucas suggests, they insist on finding the guilty party. But their plan backfires. Colossally.

Old fashion stagecoach robbery.
A stagecoach robbery gone terribly wrong. One outlaw remains to tell the story. Four cowboys, hearing the shooting, come upon the bloody scene. A hidden storage compartment containing stacks of money is found within the wreckage of the stagecoach. The cowboys want to report the robbery and turn in the money, but they're afraid of what folks may think. They decide to do the right thing anyway, put their faith in the law, collect all the evidence, and head towards the nearest town. The surviving outlaw is not far behind. Our favorite Arizona Ranger Sam Burrack joins in the chase. He must discover the truth, track down the guilty, and protect the innocent cowboys from being falsely accused of the crime. Good fast-paced story, great characters, plenty of action.
