Publisher's summary

Not even the god who made her could tame her.

When the Dagda took three girls and combined them into a single goddess—that he might have for himself a divine wife—he thought she'd be an obedient sub-deity and an extension of his rule. But the Morrigan is subservient to no man, no matter how powerful a god he fashions himself to be.

If she is to rule, however, she must do more than defy the god who made her.

She must win the heart of a mortal....

Cú Chulainn didn’t want to be a warrior.

He dreamed of becoming a bard, a poet....

But when he discovers he has the ríastrad, that he transforms into a werewolf when enraged, he finds he has little choice but to serve the whims of his king and defend Ulster.

But can the beast be controlled?

A faerie touched his heart…it calmed his rage…and he longs for her still….

But there’s another who pursues him, who hopes to win his heart…a goddess….

Will the Morrigan win the heart of her beloved? Will Cú Chulainn find peace, or will he be destined to a life of battle?

Rise of the Morrigan is a stand-alone epic in fantasy mythology. It is also a prequel to Theolphilus Monroe's Gates of Eden world. Listeners of Monroe's Voodoo Legacy, Druid Legacy, or other modern Arthurian fantasies will be captivated by this epic-fantasy adventure romance: Rise of the Morrigan: The Queen of Samhuinn.

Good Book

Loved this book and this author. The characters were great, and they were brought to life wonderfully by the narrator. The book was really easy to listen to and was done well by author and narrator. The characters were done well, and the world building was great. I received this book with a promo code, and this is my honest review.

Prequel best read after the Druids Legacy trilogy

Very interesting story, both the author and the narrator surely did a great job. The confusing ‘The Morrigan is 1 goddess made up by three human sisters (triplets) that have joined together to form 1 divine being’ thing has been told without ever being confusing at all. I was intrigued by this story and have no idea how far or near the storyline matches legends and myths about the Morrigan but is was very captivating. But I strongly recommend reading the Druid’s Legacy trilogie first, This whole world Theophilus has build is enthralling. I know his Voodoo Legacy series and more are set in the same world but I wasn’t able to continue reading that ebook box set so now I’m going to look for the other series (coming) out in audiobook format

Very interesting

This is a good story but the narrator doesn’t quite read it very well and it just doesn’t make it that appealing

Short but enjoyable

While short I did enjoy listening to this story. Follow a family, and what fate has in store for the 3 daughters, as well as a man who doesn’t want to fight, just to sing. I wish it was longer with more development of the characters but pretty decent.

A more in depth tale to compliment the Villian!

I recieved this volume, not realizing that it is included in one of the many Gates of Eden Box sets. I recieved the Druid Legacy Set, which you can check out my review of that one if you wish later. This volume points out a more in depth view of the villian known as the Morrigan; fleshing out the legend of a woman's scorn with a back story that gives you more understanding about her nature based on the backdrop of many celtic legends. At times I felt like I was in a mythology class, but as I listened I found that she became an intriguing yet multifacetted woman. That pun is intended by the way, because, spoiler...she is three sisters fused into one being! I recommend this work if you enjoy the mythology and folklore of the genre.

Impressive Dark Fantasy

I enjoyed this story about the rise of the queen of Samhuinn. After having listened to the boxset of "Gates Of Eden: The Druid Legacy Boxed Set" in which the Morrigan took a pivotal role, I really appreciated the more in-depth study of her life that was provided in this story. The more I learned about her motivations the more I came to appreciate her intricacy as a character. The story moved along well with plenty of action. William Turbett's narration was awesome and added to the story's entertainment. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily posted this review.

A great listen once again.

The Morrigan plays a part in many of the author's series. Finally, we get a chance to learn about how the Goddess came to be. Get ready to have your assumptions challenged.
