Even in the best of relationships, we mess up. We say and do things we deeply regret later on. So we need to make things right. But just saying you’re sorry isn’t enough. That’s only the first step on the road to restoration. In The 5 Apology Languages, Gary Chapman, the number one New York Times best-selling author of the 5 Love Languages®, partners with Jennifer Thomas to help you on the journey toward restored relationships.

Nothing is more inspiring than a big vision that becomes a triumphant, new reality. Think of how the Empire State Building went from a sketch to the jewel of New York's skyline in twenty-one months, or how Apple’s iPod went from a project with a single employee to a product launch in eleven months.

Story
The book draws its inspiration from stoicism, the ancient Greek philosophy of enduring pain or adversity with perseverance and resilience. Stoics focus on the things they can control, let go of everything else, and turn every new obstacle into an opportunity to get better, stronger, tougher. As Marcus Aurelius put it nearly 2000 years ago: “The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.”

Just What I Needed
I needed something to kickstart me into reading again. I was an avid reader as a kid and young adult, mostly fantasy books but not all. Over the last several years, I've strictly read all electronic or listened to audio books. I feel as if the world is passing me by and I waste so much time on social media, watching Netflix, and being robotic everywhere else in my life. This book is helping me to read more, retain more, and apply what I've learned. Onward!

Small Intentional Actions Can Work Wonders
Nicks book is excellent. Showing how small intentional actions repeated over time can create life changing consequences! The way he breaks them down shows that not only can it be simplified but made fun like a game. You can do this journey with peers and grow and learn together. Not only am I enjoying and learning so much from this book but I am getting excited for the next books I read. I am ready to make my intentional goal for what I want out of my next read and see how my mind reacts differently to sharing that intention within the cover of the book.
