About this listen

Risky Is the New Safe is a different kind of book for a different kind of thinking - a thought-provoking manifesto for risk takers. It will challenge you to think laterally, question premises, and be a contrarian.

Disruptive technology, accelerating speed of change, and economic upheaval are changing the game. The same tired, old conventional thinking won’t get you to success today. Risky Is the New Safe will change the way you look at everything! You’ll view challenges - and the corresponding opportunities they provide - in entirely new and exciting ways. You’ll recognize powerful new gateways to creating wealth.

In this mind-bending audiobook you’ll discover:

  • How mavericks like Steve Jobs, Richard Branson, and Mark Cuban think differently - and what you can learn from them
  • The six-month online course that could allow you to earn more than a PhD
  • How social media changes branding and marketing forever, and what that means for you
  • What happens when holo-suites and virtual-reality sex come about, and how you need to prepare
  • The new religion of ideas: How to become an "idea generator" and declare as a free agent
  • What will cause the Euro, precious metals, and oceanfront real estate to collapse - and how that can make you rich!

Randy is his style

A bit radical thoughts is Randy signature. Some things I agree with him, for some I don't. In general intresying book, with some great tips and things to think about.

Very Enjoyable

If you could sum up Risky Is the New Safe in three words, what would they be?

Creative, Inspiring, Informing

Any additional comments?

I read Randy Gage's book "Why you're Sick, Dumb, and Broke" and my life has never been quite the same. I was very happy to see this book available on Audible.Randy Gage uses the outline of a Rock Opera in keeping with the concept of a changing world where disruptive technology will alter the way we do things. I was concerned with this book being a re-hash of things I had heard from him elsewhere and this was not the case at all. It's not the longest book to spend your audible credits on, however, I appreciate that the content has substance. Sometimes authors want to pump out more fluff to make a book bigger/longer but that's not what happened here .He doesn't stick to the text and expands on it throughout. I thought it worked very well. He speaks in a conversational tone that I also enjoyed.Mr. Gage seems to see the world differently and is a creative and critical thinker. I hope it's contagious.

nothing new

there is nothing new for a person that is curious and socially active.. if you are over 100, or lived underground for the past 15 years you might like it..

Awesome Book

If you could sum up Risky Is the New Safe in three words, what would they be?

This book should be recommended reading for every high school student. Randy hit every point square on the head. It was a risk to read it but now that I have, I feel empowered.

Not my cup of tea

Randy seems like a very nice guy and I can see why people would pay to listen to him, I enjoyed his enthusiasm. But, I was disappointed with this book. It felt like a ra-ra self help book. It also had internal inconsistencies: risky is the new safe but then he gives advice on investment that follows the traditional risk management strategies. He asks us to believe him because he has made millions, but those millions seems to have been made by talking not doing. So it was fun but I wont be reading any more of his books.

Easily the worst book I have read in years!

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

A coherent well thought out story/theme would have been helpful. This book seemed to be odd ramblings that were not always connected.

Has Risky Is the New Safe turned you off from other books in this genre?

No. It has just made me wary of the more "fly by night" authors. I'll try to stick to the more reputable authors in this field.

How could the performance have been better?

The author seemed unprepared, as if he was writing the book in the studio that day. More preparation/forethought on the part of the author would have been appreciated.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Risky Is the New Safe?

Nearly everything!

Move along, this isn't the book you're looking for

This is the most pathetic attempt at trying to be some kind of motivational speaker. I heard a couple quick talks on youtube from Randy, but this book.. I can sum it up for you - wake up, think happy thoughts and life will improve... move along, this isn't the book you're looking for.
