About this listen

Set in rural Appalachia, River Rocks is a riveting coming-of-age tale of two boys, their friends, and a 100-year-old local legend of Confederate gold buried somewhere in the hills that surround their home.

The gold was the result of an unsolved 1903 train robbery mystery, which liberated the US government of their prized "Southern Jewel". The old legend takes on a new life as Josh Baker and Eddie Debord discover the illusive clue that begins to lead them on the adventure of a lifetime! In their quest, the boys find themselves drifting downriver on a homemade raft, biking down old railroad beds, hiking hills, exploring hidden and forbidden hollows, and attempting to locate key old-timers who can help them put this puzzle together.

Add to the mix a fog shrouded river island, a hermit of a mountain man, a knowledgeable but mysterious retired investigative reporter.... It becomes clear there is no honor among thieves!

Suspense prevails throughout the story as they move closer and closer to their target, and in the end, it could cost them much more than just a couple weeks of their summer vacation.

Remember.... Be careful wishing for big adventures.... One may find you!

I love this story, the author has 3 books about these boys adventures. Hopefully they will put them all on here. Most of all the places the author talks about in the book are real places, well some are gone now but were real at one time. The narrator drags his words a little too much for me. He doesn't put much emotion into it, a good narrator could really make this story fun. My boss went to school with the author and I actually read a signed copy of the book first. So when i seen it was available on here i just had to hear it. If you like the outdoors and tales about boys growing up you'll love this story. check it out, you wont be disappointed.
