About this listen

Itinerant lawmen Virgil Cole and Everett Hitch return to confront an escaped criminal in the grittiest entry yet of the New York Times best-selling series.

Territorial marshals Virgil Cole and Everett Hitch figured things had finally settled down in Appaloosa when Boston Bill Black's murder charge was dropped. But all that changed when Augustus Noble Driggs was transferred to a stateside penitentiary just across the border from Mexico. Square-jawed, handsome, and built like a muscled thoroughbred stallion, Driggs manages to intimidate everyone inside the prison walls, including the upstart young warden.

In a haunting twist of fate, Driggs and a pack of cold-blooded convicts are suddenly on the loose - and it's up to any and all territorial lawmen, including Cole and Hitch, to capture the fugitives and rescue the woman kidnapped during their escape. But nothing is ever quite what it seems with the ever-elusive Driggs. Finally free, he's quickly on his own furious hunt for a hidden cache of gold and jewels - and for the men who betrayed him and left him for dead.

With an unlikely and unconventional Yankee detective by their side, Cole and Hitch set off on a massive manhunt. As horses' hooves thunder and guns echo deadening reports, Driggs discovers one of the lawmen on his trail is none other than a fellow West Point graduate he'd just as soon see dead. Ruthless and willing to leave a bloody path of destruction in his wake, Driggs seeks vengeance at any cost.

Slow Pace

Would you try another book from Robert Knott and/or Rex Linn?

Maybe

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Pick up the pace, took too long to get any action going.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Slow, very slow

Do you think Robert B. Parker's Revelation needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I like the characters and have listened to all the books but those written by someone other than Robert Parker fall a bit short

Cole and Hitch ride again!

Involved tale with a twisting plot, desperados, intrigue and intresting character both old ans new. Knott continues to weave surprisingly complicated but fast moving yarns taking this series to another level.

Narrator

This particular Narrator is by far the level number one best I’ve listened to out of over a couple hundred audiobooks and I’m looking forward to listening to many more in the future, Rex Linn is at the top of the list.

Dammit. Another Mediocre Book

This one wasnt "bad" per se, just not as good as Parker wouldve done. Again though....the narrator is terrible. I wont be purchasing the next one.

Virgil Cole and Everett Hitch ride again!

Robert Knott does a superb job of keeping Market's two lawmen alive in this action -packed western. Rex Linn's wonderful narration takes the listener along with Virgil and Everett as they pursue some prisoners who have escaped. Two of the prisoners are cold-blooded murderers, who will continue to kill until Virgil and Everett stop them.

Needless Foul Language

Too much foul language and miss interpretation of the Bible.
Needless sexual innuendos.
I think they are string from Robert Parker’s original.
