About this listen

In 13th-century England, the legendary figure known by generations as Robin Hood leads an uprising that will forever alter the balance of world power and will make one man of humble beginnings an eternal symbol of freedom for his people.

An expert archer once interested only in self-preservation, Robin now serves in King Richard's army. Upon Richard's death, Robin travels to Nottingham, a town suffering from a despotic sheriff and crippling taxation. There he falls for the spirited widow Lady Marion, who is skeptical of the motivations of this mysterious crusader from the forest.

Hoping to earn the hand of Maid Marion and to save the village, Robin assembles a gang whose lethal mercenary skills are matched only by its appetite for life. Together, they begin preying on the indulgent upper class to correct the injustices of the sheriff. Now a major motion picture starring Oscar -winner Russell Crowe.

Robin Sachs' narration is the reason to buy this audible book. His characterization is very good and he brings the different characters alive. As this book is the story of a film, Robin Sachs narrates the frequent fight scenes well, lending drama to the reading. I enjoy his voice.

Robin Sachs is a great narrator

Pretty much follows the 2010 movie. Still a good book. Definitely more details than the movie

I downloaded this version of the story of Robin Hood whilst in the Nottingham area for holiday 2022.
It was the perfect accompaniment to the trip and I greatly enjoyed being transported back to that story alongside walking through Sherwood Forrest!

David B. Coe is a wonderful story teller and I’ve had the privilege of sharing several conversations with him over the years. It was lovely to be able to support him in this way!

I was very pleased listening to this Robin Hood novel. The narrator is fantastic at all, the various voices and characters and makes the story very interesting for anyone loving the Robin Hood story. Since I had just seen the movie with Russell Crowe, I was pleased that the movie was made directly off the book.

Just like the movie with Russell Crowe

I was skeptical about a novelization of a film, but Robin Sachs did an excellent job with the narration and it turned out to be a great listen in the end. A shame that Robin Sachs passed away, I would have enjoyed more of his work had he lived on and continued to narrate.

Nonetheless, as a piece done by our beloved narrator it is a treat to listen to, and you shan't be disappointed.

A surprise, a pleasant surprise.
