Vivian Arend
New York Times best-selling author Vivian Arend brings you the first standalone book in the bestselling Six Pack Ranch series.
Sometimes love is right there for the taking.
Responsible oldest of six brothers, Blake Coleman knows his desire for the sweet girl-next-door is wrong. While Jaxi has grown into a western-hat-wearing blonde with slim legs that go on forever, the responsible thing to do is keep his hands off.
Jaxi has other plans for Blake's hands, and his heart. She's more than ready to convince him they’d be perfect together, but he can't seem to see past the big "don't touch" sign that's apparently hanging around her neck.
When Jaxi ends up living on the Six Pack ranch right under Blake's nose, the undeniable heat between them slides off simmer and up to barn-burning levels. When a couple of Blake’s younger brothers decide Jaxi's brand of trouble is worth getting tangled up with, Blake's going to have to let go the reins and fight for what he really wants—her heart, forever.
Warning: Unapologetically sexy, this book contains cowboys seducing and being seduced: in trucks, pool halls, and barns. Drool-worthy country charm, a little double-teaming, and a lot of secrets are revealed as the Coleman family saga begins. Saddle up and ride.

She definitely takes HUGE risks. Risks that would backfire for most. I do love her tenacity and ingenuity, though.
As much as I love Blake and Jaxi, one of my favorite things about this is the introduction to the whole Coleman family and some relatives, and how we get to see all of them in different ways - from Travis' secrets to Matt's blinders to Daniel's medical situation to the twins... well, the twins sure do keep things interesting. I'll just leave it at that for now. 🤪🤣
I listened to a copy of the audio book and read along. The narrator is Tatiana Sokolov. I like her, but I wish this was in duet with another voice actor. I can't have it all, so I'll be happy with this. 😘

The plot was good that definitely had heat to it and still
had plenty else going on.
There’s humor and drama which was well balanced.
The two main characters were likable and had depth to them.
The narrator has done a good job of bringing the characters alive.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this audio book.
An interesting audiobook.

Blake and Jaxi have wanted each other. Jaxi settled for a substitute of Blake and that didn't work out. Blake kept thinking he was too old for Jaxi so he fought his attraction to her. It didn't work out when Jaxi raised the stake that he has to see her as a woman or walk away.
The sweetest moment was when Blake was courting Jaxi, just to show her that physical attraction isn't the only thing to build a relationship on. A relationship has to be built on some many things that a couple does and spend time together.
It also brings up on how much role will Blake and Jaxi in the other five brothers' stories. Will Jesse and Travis get over Jaxi? Travis has so many secrets and Jaxi seemed to know them and kept quiet about them. It will be interesting to find out.
Of course Blake and Jaxi do have their own HEA in this story.
The narrator, Tatiana Sokolov did a great job with the male voices. The female voices were okay. Marilyn, Blake's mother sounded too young and Jaxi sounded a bit naive especially if she knows who she wanted.

This story is a great start to a wonderful series. There are a lot of characters introduced as we meet the members of the Coleman family. The romance for Jaxi and Blake has an HEA but there are teasers for the other brothers who have their own books. Vivian writes the best erotic romance!
So hot and so good!

Rocky Mountain Heat follows Blake Coleman, the eldest of Mike and Marian Coleman's six sons. Yes, that is right. Six boys, no girls. Marian should be granted sainthood, especially after everything the boys have put her through over the years.
Jaxi set her eyes on Blake many years ago, and has done everything possible to win him over. But he is set on the fact that he is too old for her. So when Marian is injured and needs help, Jaxi moves in to the Coleman house to help with everything Marian usually does. She is out to prove to Blake she is a perfect to be a rancher's wife.
Throughout the book, Blake learns new things about Jaxi from various members of his family, including all of his brothers and his dad.
When Mike and Marian are injured, Blake and Jaxi take over the reins of the ranch. With guidance from his father, he manages his brothers chore schedules and everything gets done. Jaxi now has two patients, in addition to managing the home and Marian's other chores. All the while trying to convince Blake they are meant to be.
When Blake takes a step back and tells Jaxi they have done things backwards and he decides to right that wrong, she is confused. He plans dates for them, which are unwittingly chaperoned by one or more of his brothers.
When there is a confrontation between brothers about Jaxi and who she has chosen, you can't help but feel bad for the two that were not chosen. However, the fact they warn Blake what will happen if he breaks her heart is heartwarming. They treat Jaxi like family already, even though they are all in love with her.
I found this story endearing. Jaxi has been in love with Blake for so long and he has never really paid attention to her. I love that she talked with Mike about what classes she should take to be a rancher's wife. She knows what she wants and now she just needs the tools to get it. I felt like Mike and Marian have always known that Jaxi would marry Blake, but they just have to wait for him to get his head out of his booty.
As in other series by author Vivian Arend, Tatiana Sokolov narrates this book. In every book I listen to by her, I find more and more I enjoy about her voice. This thing that hit me in this book, was how good her male character voice is. She really has a good range, which makes the story come to life.

Narrator does a great job but I listened to this at a faster speed due to the annoyance of the characters.
I read this book many, many years ago and have never reread it due to my dislike of the heroine.
Though I love the rest of the series, this one is too annoying for me.
Still find it hard to like Jaxi and her immature behaviour. And Blake is too stubborn for his own good.
This really comes across more in audible and the brothers interactions and tension are more palpable.
Her flitting around the various brothers and utilising the twins to make Blake jealous was just immature.
Her sexual shenanigan’s with them all was off putting and really gross.
It really needs to be rewritten as it makes her come across as a juvenile, mean tease.
Once Jaxi and Blake get together as a couple this settles down, but the damage is done.
And I do like the other family members and their stories that are interwoven throughout.
I was thrown out when Matt and Helen first appeared but by the end I was used to having these insertions.
I was kindly gifted this audible book by the author.
BOOK REVIEW
3.5 stars because of Jaxi's juvenile behaviour. I think Blake deserved someone more mature but he acted a bit stupid too.
Flitting around all the other brothers and getting them all sexually steamed is mean and then Jaxi wonders why there is a problem.
If Jaxi had been more grown up and just told Blake her was her forever and NOT carried on with the brothers I would have liked this book more.
Not a gripping read and a predictable ending. Could do with being rewritten.
I normally love this authors books and have read some of this series further on and enjoyed them, hoping it was just this first book.
Still find it hard to like Jaxi.
