About this listen

Often called Paul’s magnum opus, Romans has been pivotal to Christians’ understanding of salvation for generations. It had a profound influence on Augustine and Luther. Calvin saw it as the key to understanding all of Scripture. In this volume, Dr. R.C. Sproul introduces us to Paul’s fullest, grandest, most comprehensive statement of the gospel and explains why it is just as vital for believers today as it has been for believers throughout history. Verse by verse, Dr. Sproul unfolds the vast truths that Paul has clearly and carefully woven throughout this book.

Dr. Sproul’s expositional commentaries help you understand key theological themes and apply them to all areas of your life. Drawn from decades of careful study and delivered from a pastor’s heart, these sermons are readable, practical, and thoroughly Bible-centered. Here is your opportunity to learn from a trusted teacher and theologian as he leads you through God’s Word and shares his perspective on living faithfully for God’s glory. This is a series to serve pastors, small groups, and growing Christians who want to know the Bible better.

RC’s clarity and explanations

Nothing. Many times I would re-listen to various sections, and couldn’t wait for the next chapters.

Deep theology

R.C. is a very deep thinker. He sometimes looses me, not because he gets off track but because he can stay on the same track for a long time. In my opinion if you’re looking to build out your theology this is a good book. If you’re looking for a foundation I would start somewhere else and work up to this.

Sproul does a fantastic job going verse by verse through The Apostle Paul’s epistle to the church in Rome. He exposits on sound Biblical teachings throughout. Great reformed theology.

Solid teaching paired with great illustrations

Sproul is consistently excellent in his exegesis and thorough in his explanations of complicated theology, and has such a great grasp that he can cover the consequences of various alternative views.

Romans is difficult

The narrator for the Sproul books is really good.
For me, Romans was very difficult to read on my own. I am currently a non-denominal Christian who came to Christ and received the holy spirit.
This book almost broke me... Don't give up on it. Paul really beats us down until you are ready to give up hope. But, then the turn comes. Sproul does a wonderful job to let you know the turn is coming.
I went from hating this book to loving it in a single day.
Sproul did a great job on this.
I think you will enjoy it.
