Jack Warr is a young DC with the Metropolitan Police. Charming but aimless, Jack can't seem to find his place in the world - until he's drawn into an investigation that turns his life upside down. In the aftermath of a fire at a derelict cottage, a badly charred body is discovered, along with the burnt remnants of millions of stolen, untraceable bank notes - the hidden legacy of Dolly Rawlins and her gang of Widows. Great story and great characters
I love horses and I enjoy great robbery stories. This was a great mix of the two.

Ten Stars...!
Loved it!!! What a story. Couldn't stop listening! This is why Lynda La Plante is the queen of mysteries, thrillers, and police procedurals. Loved the characters, circumstances, locales, and how the story revolved around horse racing and breeding as well. As usual, can't wait until your next Audible book Ms. La Plante!

Skipped to the end.
Narrator was very good. Story strained credulity. I finally lost patience and went to the last couple of chapters, just to see how it turned out.

It wasn’t what I expected.
I didn’t like the characters. The behavior was not believable as it was written. And it certainly didn’t have much to do with horse racing.
