Publisher's summary

Davey’s rule number 83: Daddy will encourage his boy to be the best he can be and be supportive of his boy’s career choices.

Marcus Alves has waited most of his adult life to find the perfect match. A sweetheart who will love cuddles, need a daddy to help him thrive, and most importantly, be the type of boy that might want to use the binky that Marcus keeps hidden in his pocket. Now in his forties, he’s refusing to give up on his dream or the unused playroom that’s waiting for someone to enjoy.

Jeff Robustelli has had a rough life. Growing up in a commune with absent parents was hard for a rule-following, straitlaced guy with a genius IQ. When the uncle who saved him died, Jeff did what he does best - buried his head in the sand and pretended life wasn’t changing. Working in a daddy club has shown him what he really wants, but Jeff is too afraid to take a chance on something new.

When Jeff has a sudden need for a fake fiancé, he strikes a deal with the older man who always seems to be there when his world is crumbling and makes him feel safe. In exchange, he agrees to a fake daddy/boy experiment designed to let him try out being little...without any pressure.

While Marcus and Jeff navigate their “deal” and the unexpected new feelings that begin to emerge, Marcus also must help the younger man through a series of life changes that put him on the road to being the adult he’s been too afraid to be.

When everything in Jeff’s life is in turmoil, Marcus is his one stability. But can Jeff trust his own heart when nothing else in his life is making sense anymore?

This is the fifth book in a series about not-so-perfect daddies, adorable boys, and one sassy brat with an insane list of rules. Grab your fan and tissues because this series comes with both a high heat advisory and all the squishy feels that you’d want from a Susan Hawke book.

Great Addition to Series!

I enjoyed reading about Marcus and Jeff's journey to love. It's a really sweet story and shows that there's someone for everyone no matter how awkward a person may seem to be. Sammy and Davey are quickly becoming two of my fav characters and I love their shenanigans. I hope Sammy gets his own story in the future. This book is a great addition to the series. Narrator did a great job with bringing the story to life.

Now I have to read them all!

This was the first book of this series that I’ve listened to or read. Despite missing the first few books, I didn’t have a difficult time picking up on the different dynamics/relationships/timelines that were brought up. In fact, I actually stopped listening, bought and finished Rules for Santa and then returned to Rules to Obey.

If you read the blurb(s), you know this book has aspects of BDSM in it. I find the Daddy/boy dynamic particularly hot, but not so much when it gets into Little territory. To each their own—just not my kink. I think part of my dislike for true-blue BDSM is when everything is spelled out and appears clinical (if that makes sense). I prefer my kink to happen naturally and not hardcore enough to involve contracts, safewords, spelling out every-little-thing, etc. With that disclaimer out of the way, this story is about Daddy Marcus and his Little Jef(fy). I knew that going in, but I still wanted to try it out. The beginning part wasn’t my cup of tea for that reason, but thankfully I was able to overlook that the more I got invested with Jeff’s character. I have to say, the drama involving Jeff’s past/family added the perfect “crisis” to this story. It was well-planned, tied everything together, but was maybe too anti-climactic at the end. Or maybe I’m just a vindictive ho and wanted to see justice fully played out, ha. Either way, I ended up liking this story (and particularly, Jeff) wayyy more towards the end. And seriously...please tell me Sammy and Davey get their own HEA. I’ll be all over that.

IF Littles aren’t your cuppa, do not discount this entire series. From my understanding (and listening to Rules For Santa), not every book involves a Little but *does* involve sexy Daddy/boy time. AND Michael Dean (Pauley)—you can’t go wrong with either :)

Adorable!! I couldn’t wait for this one :)

I absolutely love this series and couldn’t wait for this book!
Susan Hawke has created a great daddy kink series with all different types of characters with challenges and lifestyles that just end up clicking together. Jeff’s is in need of finding his true self whereas his daddy Marcus has been waiting for the perfect boy and they just have both been through a lot and deserve so much happiness. It’s adorable to see Jeff find himself as a little boy and Marcus find everything he can in Transformers. I definitely can’t wait for the next book in the series! In this book we got to see a lot more of Sammy and Davey, and their little family so it makes you even more ready for their stories!

Michael Dean did an amazing job making this book fun and interesting to listen to. I absolutely adore his voice and talent! A must listen!

Perfect Fit

Perfect Fit
Jeff needed to be just brave enough to go out with Marcus. And the growth explodes. I love how Marcus is there to supply just what Jeffy needs. Their life just gets richer and richer.

Rules To Obey (Davey's Rules, Book 5)by Susan Hawke loved it. A good combination of world building and character development. Marcus and Jeff will take you on a great roller coaster ride of emotions that leaves you feeling wonderful at the end. If you like Daddy's and little's this is the story for you.
The Narrator Michael Dean did a fantastic job bringing these characters and story to life.

I am addicted to this series

This series has me so strung up I can't stand it. This had to be close to one of my favorites out of the series so far.
Marcus was a perfect Daddy just waiting for his little to come along.
Poor Jeff was new to everything because of the way he grew up.
The way Daddy Marcus took care of Jeff was so sweet and wonderful it had my heart just completely melting.
Of course, you know we got to read about Davey and all the others and what's going on in everyone's lives.
This series is a one clicker for me and a must relisten.
Michael oh how he does a Daddy's voice is so dreamy and perfect.

Terrific narration of a sweet slow-burn romance!

Terrific narration of a sweet slow-burn romance that is filled with healing and love.  I enjoyed this story that was centered on age play and Daddy kink.  The dynamics really fit the characters and i loved the patience that was so important for Jeff.  The plot had a few twists as they work out the challenges of Jeff's history and he learns it is okay to be himself.  Marcus really gets to shine in this story as he finds creative and beautiful ways to support Jeff as he navigates these emotional waters.

Marcus and Jeff are delightful as they navigate the Daddy/Boy dynamic.  i really enjoyed Jeff as a 'little'!  I really enjoyed how supportive Marcus was of Jeff and how he treated Jeff was terrific.  Makes me want a Daddy to spoil me!

I loved the inclusion of previous characters, especially Uncle Sammy. Davey, Preston, Cameron, Michael, and others.  This is an ongoing story-line and these characters really have played an important role in Jeff and Marcus's life.

This is book fife of the Davey's Rules series and i think it is best if read/listened in order of the series.  It could be read as a stand-alone, but you would lose so much of the inter-relationships.

A wonderful story in audio

Jeff has been going through the motion of life and not really living. An auction brings him into Marcus’s life. Marcus has noticed Jeff for awhile and wants him as a permanent part of his life. Davey sneaks into the story as well.

This story made me laugh and also tear up a bit. Jeff has a very sad backstory but Marcus truly helps him through it all! It was SO amazing the love and care they showed each other. The narration was perfect.

I loved this audio and if you are a fan of this series you will too!

Jeffy and Daddy Marcus's story.

The fifth book in the Dave's Rules series is super cute, but has a really good plot, too. The steamy parts are pretty slow burn, given Jeff's inexperience and background.
Poor Jeff has it coming at him from all sides between his past, his family and it's no wonder he wants to regress and be little as much as possible. Fortunately for him Daddy Marcus has a seemingly infinite well of patience where his Jeffy is concerned and he's just the right Daddy to help both Jeff and Jeffy thrive!
