About this listen

I’m done hiding who I am.

Pretending to be straight, to be the loving, devoted husband and successful ER doctor everyone wanted me to be, has been exhausting.

I numbed the pain any way I could, and in the end, it cost me everything. My job, my marriage, the relationship with my grown kids.

But now I’m in recovery, and for the first time, I’m living my true life as an out gay man.

I need to get my act together, to get healthy again. Benoni is my new personal trainer...20 years my junior. He makes my mouth water and certain other body parts react. Oh, and he’s also my son’s best friend.

I’m 47 years old. It’s time for a clean start. But where does Benoni fit in?

Clean Start at Forty-Seven is part one of a duology, an emotional MM romance with an age gap, first-time gay, loads of hurt/comfort, and the beginnings of a beautiful Daddy/boy relationship. It contains themes of opioid addiction and religious homophobia. Please check the trigger warnings at the beginning of the book.

Unique, realistic story

I loved this book. I teared up at some parts. I felt really connected to the characters.

What a story

This story is absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately I can relate to Kinsey’s religious trauma as can many who were raised in such a religious background. I fell in love with Kinsey and Ben almost immediately. I laughed and cried over this book. And John Solo…his narration added so much to this. He can put so much feeling into the words. If you can handle a heart wrenching story of rebirth and growth, you have GOT to listen to this.

Very different but wonderful

I love the fact that this book tackled some of the popular teachings on homosexuality through the eyes of the main characters. I found myself having to reevaluate my own biases. I absolutely recommend reading this book. Definitely worth the credit. As always, John gives a superb performance.

Really good story telling

This story was well told. it is so interesting to hear the experience of someone being out for the first time at 47, after being married and having Children. I can relate to this story as I also am the same age and recently came out as a Gay Man Publicly. It was refreshing to hear the struggles are not just me. I know this is not real life and is just a story but it resonated with me.

One of the Best Books I've Ever Read

This book is absolutely incredible! Genuine, truly heartfelt, and depth of character like nothing I've listened to before. I am wowed and I cannot wait for the second in the duology. John Solo does a perfect job of narrating this book. Highly recommend!

This story hits you differently

I have lived the so called religious way and the way it’s portrayed in this book, it touches you deeply and helps you realize it’s all someone else’s agenda and not what religion should be about. The love story, the taboo, the addiction and the twists in the plot keep you coming back for more. Luckily there is a second book to complete the story. Great job.

Amazing

I loved the storyline and the way the flash back’s helped follow the story. I am a big fan of John solo and the way his voice brings the characters to life. And the whole submissive thing is 🔥. Can’t wait to listen to book 2.
