About this listen

New Orleans belongs to me. You don't know my name, but I control everything you see - and all the things you don't. My reach knows no bounds, and my demands are always met. I didn't need to loan money to a failing family distillery, but it amuses me to have them in my debt. To have her in my debt. She doesn't know she caught my attention. She should've been more careful. I'm going to own her. Consume her. Maybe even keep her. It's time to collect what I'm owed. Keira Kilgore, you're now the property of Lachlan Mount.

Okay

The Beneath series was my absolute favorite and I was disappointed with this first book. It did not start to get good until the end and I agree with others there is no need to make this three books and charge us triple the price.
I also missed Sebastian and Andi, Sebastian has the perfect voice for an Alpha male and I did not feel that with Joe.
I think this book was to much on Keira side and not enough from Mount's point of view.
I will listen to the next two books, because I am curious to see the ending.

Story Magic

Joe Arden was born to play the part of Lachlan. Grace was great as the three characters she read. I don't know how these narrators do it, but it takes talent.

Mount, the bad ass kingpin of New Orleans, launched a hostile takeover of an assertive businesswoman, Kiera, whose dead husband left her in debt to Mount to the tune of a half million dollars. She's fighting him tooth and nail but he has her over a barrel, threatening to hurt her family and friends if she doesn't submit willingly.

Kiera has chinks in her armor, naivete, pride, and family loyalty, that are endearing. Mount softens a bit against her outraged fits and uncharacteristically tolerates a lot of verbal abuse and defiance from her. Mount alternates between amusement and anger to the bickering when he pushes her limits.

Their sexual chemistry is as hot as a car hood on a New Orleans summer day. I feel like a lucky voyeur.

OMG! That ending! What a twist!

I have loved all that I've read or listened to by Meghan March so far. I love her Beneath series. I didn't think I would get into this, it is a lot darker, the title refers to a bad guy, Lachlan Mount. We did meet him in the last book in the Beneath series. He's the guy who everyone has to go through in New Orleans, the drug cartels go through him, he owns or pays off some of the police. His reputation is not a man you'd ever think you'd want. Or not the type of guy I'd want, I don't really like the bad guys usually. I should have known though, after what the author did with the one really bad guy in the Beneath series, Rix, that she could find a way to make me like this bad guy. But don't mistake Mount for Rix. Mount is a really bad guy.

This first one was really mostly about the sex part to me. I had a lot of questions about some things, and how they would really work. I also was definitely unsure about liking one of the things he made her do. I mean, there's a reason they say things like people walking around like they "have a stick up their ...". We got some time with the characters from the Beneath series twice in this book. I liked that, but wished for more. There was a cliffhanger at the end, as I mentioned, and so I had to immediately get ahold of the second book. But I chose to get it from the library where unfortunately, I was put on hold. However, it was a surprise when later that same night, it was available! So really I didn't have to wait any longer than I normally would wait anyway to start a new audiobook. My one complaint is how we didn't get the every other chapter between the two characters in this one. So much more from Keira's side. But I get the reason for it.

Liked It!

I purchased this audio book a while back and totally forgot I had it in my library. I gave this 4 stars because I really liked the story but I’m not so crazy about the word porn. It’s just embarrassing listening to a book on my commute and coming to a stop with the windows down and a steamy part starts. Ugh!
With that said I really liked the storyline and the characters. And the end Oh! My!
I’m completely hooked and need to read what happens next.
I’m hoping to hear more of Mount’s POV in the next book. If you like a steamy this trilogy will not disappoint.

I had to keep on checking the title to make sure that this was only Book 1 of the trilogy

I’ve always loved Meghan March’s book but the beginning of this book really threw me off. The first 3 hours was spent with the heroine complaining redundantly and the story started with little background on why Mount wanted her. The story I’m sure will be good and I know I will purchase the rest of the series but I just hoped it was longer to fully deserve my hard earned credit.

Mount Trilogy (review of all 3)

I love Meghan March books, they have depth with twists and turns and the Mount Trilogy doesn't dissapoint. As always, I'm frustrated that it's broken into 3 books. I agree with all other reviews of this and all her trilogies that this is simply a money grab. Each book is less than 6 hours and could easily have been (and should have been) one book. Kiera is a strong female lead, which I appreciate. Lachlan has depth and it doesn't take long to figure out he's got goodness in him. I like how the story unfolds and the bumps in the road. I appreciate that once they truly come together they are a reasonably strong unit. There are issues that do not get resolved by the last book, and I feel there should have been at least one or two more chapters or epilogues that would include more disclosure with Kiera's family as well as Kiera's actions within the included epilogue (and perhaps more information/meeting)

Great story by Meghan March, as usual

As usual Meghan March comes through with this romantic/suspense. This first book sets the foundation for a great continuing story. This story kept my attention from beginning to end. Meghan weaves a very detailed story that sucks you in and doesn't let got. The narrators were excellent. Great team for this effort.
