About this listen
"I should be dead. Buried in an unmarked grave in Romania. Obviously, I am not. God had other plans."
At just under five feet tall, Virginia Prodan was no match for the towering six-foot-ten-inch, gun-wielding assassin the Romanian government sent to her office to take her life. It was not the first time her life had been threatened - nor would it be the last.
As a young attorney under Nicolae Ceausescu's brutal communist regime, Virginia had spent her entire life searching for the truth. When she finally found it in the pages of the most forbidden book in all of Romania, Virginia accepted the divine call to defend fellow followers of Christ against unjust persecution in an otherwise ungodly land.
For this act of treason, she was kidnapped, beaten, tortured, placed under house arrest, and came within seconds of being executed under the orders of Ceausescu himself. How Virginia not only managed to elude her enemies time and again but also helped expose the appalling secret that would ultimately lead to the demise of Ceausescu's evil empire is one of the most extraordinary stories ever told.
A must-listen for all generations, Saving My Assassin is the unforgettable account of one woman's search for truth, her defiance in the face of evil, and a surprise encounter that proves without a shadow of a doubt that nothing is impossible with God.

Just after midnight on April 15, 1912, the passenger steamship Carpathia receives a distress signal from the largest passenger liner ever built, RMS Titanic, which is on its maiden voyage from Southampton, England, to New York. Captain Arthur Rostron is awakened to an enormous maritime emergency with little information to guide his actions in answering the call for help. Is the dire threat to the unsinkable Titanic accurate? His ship is more than four hours away; will Carpathia hold together if pushed to never-before-tested speeds?

Story
How did the world arrive at its current, disorienting state of identity politics, and how should the church respond? Historian Carl R. Trueman discusses how influences ranging from traditional institutions to technology and pornography moved modern culture toward an era of "expressive individualism." Investigating philosophies from the Romantics, Nietzsche, Marx, Wilde, Freud, and the New Left, he outlines the history of Western thought to the distinctly sexual direction of present-day identity politics and explains the modern implications of these ideas.

What does it look like to live with joy in a society that does not like what Christians believe, say, or do? It's tempting to grow angry, keep our heads down, retreat or just give up altogether. But this isn't the first time that God's people have had to learn how to live in a pagan world that opposes God's rule.

Story
Turning the other cheek does not mean standing by while the enemies of God dismantle Christian civilization and brainwash our children. Decrying the cowardice that masquerades as meekness, Eric Metaxas summons the Church to battle. An attenuated and unbiblical “faith” based on what Bonhoeffer called “cheap grace” has sapped the spiritual vitality of millions of Americans. Paying lip service to an insipid “evangelism,” they shrink from combating the evils of our time. Metaxas refutes the pernicious lie that fighting evil politicizes Christianity.

Story
Elisabeth Elliot was a young missionary in Ecuador when members of a violent Amazonian tribe savagely speared her husband, Jim, and his four colleagues. Incredibly, prayerfully, Elisabeth took her toddler daughter, snakebite kit, Bible, and journal...and lived in the jungle with the stone-age people who killed her husband. In this authorized biography, Ellen Vaughn uses Elisabeth’s private, unpublished journals, and candid interviews with her family and friends, to paint the adventures and misadventures God used to shape one of the most influential women in modern church history.

As Adolf Hitler and the Nazis seduced a nation, bullied a continent, and attempted to exterminate the Jews of Europe, a small number of dissidents and saboteurs worked to dismantle the Third Reich from the inside. One of these was Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a pastor and author. In this New York Times bestselling biography, Eric Metaxas takes both strands of Bonhoeffer's life—the theologian and the spy—and draws them together to tell a searing story of incredible moral courage in the face of monstrous evil.

Burn the Place is a galvanizing culinary memoir that chronicles Iliana Regan's journey from foraging on the family farm to opening her Michelin-starred restaurant. Her story is alive with startling imagery, raw like that first bite of wild onion, and told with uncommon emotional power. Regan grew up the youngest of four headstrong girls on a small farm in Indiana. Regan often felt that she "wasn't made for this world." She was a little girl who longed to be a boy, gay in an intolerant community, an alcoholic before she turned 20, a woman in an industry dominated by men.

This book changed my mind!
I grew up in a Christian home, but for decades I avoided saying I was a “Christian,” because the word sometimes invoked so much angst because of the actions of some Christians throughout history. Instead, I would say “I am a follower of Jesus,” because even people who didn’t believe “He is Lord” respected Him. Virginia Prodan’s courageous life made me realize want to say proudly “I am a Christian!” I pray i will have the opportunity one day to meet her in person to express my gratitude!

Incredible story about a small woman against a big government
I believe for me, this is one of the most inspiring stories of courage bravery and faith I have ever heard of in my life. Although horrible and Sad what Virginia and her family and friends went through I’m grateful that someone like her stood up to such a horrible way of control on civility. I believe that this book is something that everyone needs to read to understand The terrible ways of communism and socialism, to realize how horrible it is to humanity. Virginia is a true hero to society. And I thank Her for having the faith to do what she did.

Courageous
Narrator was outstanding. Story is very compelling. It's a good reminder that Christ is ever present even in the darkest of places.

GOD Is Amazing!
This book will change you & the way you view what miraculous thinks GOD can accomplish! The way Virginia allowed GOD to fill & transform her, to fill her so full of HIS love that she literally felt His love for others flow through her. And she always humbly gives GOD all the credit & says that she is simply a tool in His hands & a conduit for Him to use. If you think one person can't make a difference, this true story will show you that through GOD all things truly are possible. HE used 1 very tiny petite woman to begin the downfall of the communist regime in Romania.

Everyone Should Read Regardless of Religion
In 2022, a time where some Americans and politicians claim that our freedoms and Republic are threatened, saying this solely for the purpose of political gain, everyone should read or listen to this book and learn what oppression really is. This is a well written and compelling account of Virginia Prodan’s life in communist Romania. Despite the religious overtones, it is a mostly a book about the struggle for freedom in the face of an evil system that thankfully was overthrown.

An incredible story of faith and redemption
This book is a fantastic story of faith and perseverance, a light that shines in a dark place. God bless the author and all of those to whom she blessed with her wisdom, including me. I pray that God will revive my spirt and give the the love and wisdom He has given her.
