About this listen

Rafe Varik. The troublemaker. The risk taker. The sexy club owner full of wicked promises. Rafe has devoted his immortal existence to pleasure and causing mischief. The only ones who can depend on him are his brothers. Of course, that’s very much a Varik thing. But when the leader of the Arsenault clan specifically requests Rafe’s help in tracking down a killer, he can’t say no. Sure, Rafe claims he’s doing it for his family. They’ve attracted too many enemies and could use a few allies. That’s not the whole truth, though.

There’s something about Philippe Arsenault that draws Rafe in. He wants more of Philippe. The vampire leaves him longing for another second in his presence, another taste of his lips, another caress of those perfect fingers. Yet when it’s all over, what will become of Philippe and Rafe? Because Philippe will always be an Arsenault, and Rafe will always be a Varik.

Saving Rafe is the second book in an MM paranormal romance series that has vampires, betrayal, annoying brothers, music, heartbreak, hope, sexy times, and a pair of star-crossed lovers.

It’s better than the first

It’s better than the first book. There’s a few cringey moments that make this seem more like a childish fan fiction but overall it’s a good story and I wish I had only listened to this one and not the first at all. The voices are weird as heck. Marcus’ voice bothered me so badly in the first audiobook and this book it’s weird. With Marcus, Philippe, Ethan and Rafe it makes no sense. Bel either. Their voices change and there isn’t a consistent voice? Phillippes voice started out okay and then toward the middle he started sounding like Ethan from the first book 🙄🙄🙄. Rafe has an English accent? But Bel sounds just like Ethan and they’re twins. Their bond is so strong I’d assume they aren’t like winter and go off on their own so it makes no sense that Rafe has the accent and Bel doesn’t. Sometimes the narrators voice is a different characters voice instead of the narrator in moments where it’s quite obviously supposed to be the narrator. Idk why I tried to listen to this one when I hated the voices in the first one but I did. Definitely a mistake.

How can I give this more than 5 stars?

Jocelynn nailed it! Rafe and Philippe’s story was AMAZING!
How they met, the connection, the mistrust, the uncertainty, the ache for someone to be yours, and the letting go, it all came together to pack a mighty punch. Action, love, decadence, sacrifice, and family. I’m absolutely in love with the Variks, I want HEA’s for ALL of them, including a certain daddy vamp! Also, a certain dancer stole my heart, and I hope we get his HEA too.
There’s nothing more to add, I stayed up until 4AM to finish this book, and I couldn’t have been happier. This could literally be a movie. LOVE IT!
