About this listen

When you can talk to ghosts, things are bound to get spirited.

The ghosts have been there since before I can remember. When I was a kid, they doted on me, but as I got older, they got more demanding. I’ve spent my whole life seeing and talking to dead people and trying to pretend I’m not, because the living just don’t understand. Nobody wants to be around the freak who claims to see ghosts. Until I go to Mannix Estate.

Once a private country home, then a posh hotel, it was closed after a suspicious incident but is now an immersive historic experience. It’s also haunted AF, and everyone knows it. Finally, I’ve found a place to work and live where I can be useful. Where I’m actually wanted.

There are only two problems: I spent a hot, sweaty, satisfying night with Ewan the blacksmith before I knew we’d have to work together. Everyone knows sex with colleagues is a bad idea, right? Even if he’s the world’s most ripped cinnamon roll.

Plus, the ghosts are keeping secrets. There’s something going on that’s not normal, even for a haunted estate. And, I suspect that when the truth comes out, I’m the one who’ll have to deal with it…and it won’t be good.

Wow. I read it first, the audiobook was better!

I was already in love with this story. The characters are wonderful and the plot is unique and engaging. I tried the audiobook before the sequel came out and I’m beyond thrilled I did!

The narrator is excellent and he brought the characters to life. I’m going to listen to the audiobook for the sequel now instead of reading the actual book. I can’t wait!

Highly recommend. If you want hilarious ghosts, dynamic main characters, sweet romance with a HEA and a demon that needs to be vanquished — this is the story for you!

Spirited Situation

Spirited Situation (Ghostly Guardians 1) by Louisa Masters is a paranormal, mm, one-night stand, workplace romance told in the dual first-person point-of-view.

When you can talk to ghosts, it makes your life a little complicated. A job at a haunted mansion, a one-night stand turned co-worker who likes your quirks may just be the new life Josh has been looking for.

Josh and Ewan are so adorable. I loved their connection and the chemistry they have. The banter between all of the characters, living and dead, had me laughing out loud. I am interested to see where this series goes.

Nick J. Russo did a great job narrating Josh and Ewan’s story making it so much more than it was when I read the book and he made a single narration feel like a duet narration.

I loved this paranormal Romance!

The characters were fun with an engaging plot line and an audio performance that really brought the characters to life. I look forward to seeing where the next book in the series leads!

Very enjoyable

I’m not the biggest fan of this author, but oh wow she hit bullseye with this.
Great story with lovable characters, if somewhat predictable. But still very enjoyable.

And Nick did absolutely amazing narration on this, possibly one if his best.

So sweet and spooky

In this one, we have a young man who has been able to see ghosts his whole life and was suffering for it. He comes across a job in a haunted hotel/b&b and it's perfect for him.

The night before his job interview he hooks up with a nice guy. Come to find out, that guy works at the same place.

I loved the ghost parts as much as the romance here. I thought it was well done.

This is a series so while the main MCs got their HFN, the ghost situation is still ongoing.

The narration was perfect and Nick Russo always does a good job.

Casual and Cute

I have listened to this book a couple of times. I don't find anything wrong with it. There are instances where I think it could do a lot more, but ultimately it's not a deep book. It's cute and fluffy with a little intrigue. It's cheery and uplifting in general--a slice of life that's more sweet than substance. Not a bad thing, at all. Just not what I would find truly gush worthy.

The relationship in this book isn't very complicated. Josh is definitely the more insecure, but it's not really anything you dig into or worry about in terms of resolution. He's insecure, he gets a boyfriend, they fall in love way too easily, and he gets generally better. Ewan and Josh also get the added benefit of being the first pair in a series of stories where even when you're not focused on their relationship, it is still existing and growing in the background of the other books. So they feel like they are written more as that early aspect of a relationship because the author already has it all in her head that the relationship is continuing in the other books she had plotted out at the time of writing the first.

All the characters stand out as their own people. There are a fairly large number in the main cast, and it does only grow more, but there is a good balance of where to focus and who to utilize in specific ways. It feels like the world, story, and characters are all well thought out and everything flows well. It's not really intricate, but it is definitely a nice feel good story you can just sit back an enjoy.
