About this listen

In 2030, human civilization is faced with almost certain extermination. Weather patterns have become more extreme. Super storm after super storm pops up without warning. Some cities and even some smaller nations have become uninhabitable. Some say it is a man-made issue, others claim it is natural. To those losing family members, to those whose lives are destroyed, it doesn't matter what caused it, they only care about how to make it stop.

The public is demanding action. In the US, politicians are under pressure to act swiftly. Conservationist groups lobby for ending the use of fossil fuels, while corporate interests lobby for retaining full exploitation of fossil resources.

A scientist named Emma Hallbar offers a solution to climate change that offers humanity a lifeline. She dedicates her life to finding a way to control the environment so that all humans can live a life free of these unpredictable climactic temper tantrums. The result is the largest space program as well as the most unified global effort in history.

Human nature creates unforeseen conflicts on a scale that have globally tragic effects. Just when she thinks that she has the whole thing under control, a terrorist strike threatens to take it all away. Can Doctor Hallbar save humanity from Mother Nature as well as human kind's interpersonal struggles?

Can a chaotic system as complex as the climate of an entire planet be influenced by man at all? Can she find a way to make that influence positive? Can she control the weather well enough to stop the tragedies that are destroying the lives of millions of people?

Saving the Earth is the first in a series by Optical Society of America Fellow Devon G. Crowe and number-one best-selling author Timothy Imholt. It is a highly entertaining, fast-moving first step into a series of novels that contain events that threaten the future existence of humans as the dominant species on Earth.

Saving the Earth

This was a good story although David Loving, the narrator, read it WAY too fast.Since it was not on my iPod,I could not adjust that.He also needs to work on his characters. Some were voiced well, some just read really fast.Global warming and 'why' are addresses in this fast based story. There are even solutions posited.Abrupt ending leads probably into a new book.I was provided this book by the author, narrator or publisher.

Important, pay attention

What made the experience of listening to Saving the Earth the most enjoyable?

Especially since the beginning of the new administration's attacks on the truth, the story is more of a prediction that can actually happen even sooner than the author suggests. Let's hope that we smarten up before we are in the stories dire situation.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Turn off a damn light while you still can.

Good Story About A Tough Subject

I just about didn't listen when I saw the premise of the story, but I am glad I did listen. The authors do a great job of telling a story that has serious possibilities. The narrator does an awesome job as usual. This was a review copy, thanks for letting me listen.

Saving the Earth

Any additional comments?

This is a great book. We must take care of our planet because it's the only one we have. We have to find ways to reduce our daily actions in order to save the Earth. I can't wait for the other books. The narrator did a great job.

Saving the earth

If you could sum up Saving the Earth in three words, what would they be?

This book addresses very real problems. Finding a workable solutions so that we can live to debate other issues would be helpful.. I look forward for more.

Geoengineering Novel; Poor Tech, Poor Novel

Impossible storm kills characters immediately. Their daughter, in response, becomes a super scientist. She builds sunglasses for the Earth to save the world. The characters are not interesting: the technology is odd, and the climate science is wrong.
