About this listen

Elsa Cavalon, petrified that the nightmare from 15 years earlier is beginning all over again...

Marin Quinn, hiding with her daughters in their concrete fortress, her storybook marriage over...

Perfect strangers whose once-perfect lives were cruelly shattered, they're bound by a long-lost child, a fragile strand of newfound maternal hope and mutual loneliness. Yet Elsa and Marin are never truly alone. Someone is always nearby, watching them and their children. Someone driven by vengeance and the simple poetry of nursery rhymes.

Someone who must satisfy a dark need with innocent blood. And now time is running out for two mothers stalked by a cunning mastermind who wants to leave them scared to death.

Critic reviews

"Staub can wring more terror out of a walk down the hallway of a New York townhouse than many writers can conjure out of an entire city....[She creates] a series of plot twists that the reader never sees coming, leading to a frightening conclusion that is stunning in its presentation and brilliant in its execution." Great book

Would you try another book from Wendy Corsi Staub and/or Jennifer Van Dyck?

I LOVE Wendy Staub and this is a fantastic story, I know this because I also purchased it several yrs back but yet it seems Audible loses a few books in your library.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Hopefully something I haven't purchased before and then repurchased because Audible forgot about taking my money the first time.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Jennifer Can Dyck is a fantastic narrator - I love to listen to her

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Scared to Death?

nothing - fantastic from start to finish BOTH time I purchased it

Any additional comments?

Be very careful if your like me and purchase alot of audible books as you'll end up paying twice because you listen to so many you forget titles so you end up repurchasing one that Audible took out of your library.

Poor narration & unlikable characters

I'd listened to the first book, Live To Tell and went immediately to this second book. In my opinion, it was just TOO MUCH. Too much of whiney kids (the kids seem to run the show), too much of dull-witted and weak parents and definitely too much of this narrator (to put it nicely, she isn''t in my top 99% of favorite narrators). The characters in this book just aren't likeable (but some of this is probably due to the tone of the narrator). The kids seem to run the show. Yes... I did like the twist at the ending - not what I'd expected. Another thing that really bothered me is that there are two moms with VERY similar names. Even after listening to the whole book, I'm not sure of their names.... something like Laura/Lauren/Maura/Loren. I kept getting those two characters mixed up as well as whose kids were whose. I'd like to see if other listeners have the same issue. I wouldn't recommend listening to this book..... it might be okay in the hardback/paperback form.
