Publisher's summary

Scarlet Mitchell wakes up on the floor of her boss's apartment. Her boss is dead and to make matters worse, Scarlet is holding the bloodied murder weapon. With no recollection of the previous night whatsoever, Scarlet turns to the only person who can find the answers she needs: Jason Callahan. Together with Trina Dane, local psychic and columnist for the city newspaper, they begin to dig into Scarlet's past. Things in Trina's world are never what they seem and when they finally get at the real truth, it's much worse than simple murder. As always, the best laid plans go awry. In spite of rogue demons, possession and a trip to the hell dimension, Jason and Trina manage to solve the case, but not before they unleash hell on Earth. And as always, hilarity ensues.

Quite enjoyable

I hate listening out of order but I grabbed at the chance to listen to this one even though I missed the first two. This type of book is so hit or miss and this was a hit. Funny and clever with likeable characters. Need I say more. Narration was very good and easy to understand when the characters shifted.
I was gifted this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

WOW!

pi, excop, witches, supernatural, suspense, paranormal, detective, thriller, nyc

Ex NYPD now a PI, his girl Friday, the helpful witch, the ghost of a murdered man, and a very confusing client make up the main characters in this paranormal thriller. There is situational humor, and some things that stretch the imagination, but all combine to make for a thoroughly enjoyable tale! I later noticed that this is the third in a series, but who could tell?
Steven J Cohen has a very expressive voice which conveys emotions and characters extremely well.

Great paranormal mystery

Glad I don't have any "gifts" in the paranormal realm.

Steven Jay Cohen did a good job narrating.

Funny, light, detective, horror

Is there anything you would change about this book?

No. But be warned, this is a light detective/ horror story with demons in it. I found it funny and would listen to more in the series, but would not recommend it to religious sensitive people.

Would you be willing to try another book from Patricia Lee Macomber? Why or why not?

Yes, the book was well written and funny.

What about Steven Jay Cohen’s performance did you like?

Pleasant, well paced. I enjoyed his character voices.

Do you think Scarlet, Sometimes needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Yes, I would like to hear more about the characters. They kept me smiling.

better much better

I received this book free in exchange for an unbiased review, so book 1 was tough, book two better but still rough around the edges with a setting far away that made little sense. this book however was much better, the author has a ways to go and needs to read some king novels to pick up a few techniques but they're definitely getting the hang of it. didn't know how they would pull the book off and keep it interesting at first and that in it's self had me interested, the narrator did good however he does not separate the narration and the lead character and it's sometimes hard to see if it's the book talking or the character in it...overall much better then the last two books

Who Needs Ghostbusters w/Jason & Trina on the Case

Would you consider the audio edition of Scarlet, Sometimes to be better than the print version?

I have never read a story by Ms. Macomber, but I will now. Fun story and great characters.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Scarlet, Sometimes?

So many fun and hilarious moments (dolls, 6' teddy bear, cab drivers). You've got to listen to fully enjoy.

What about Steven Jay Cohen’s performance did you like?

Mr. Cohen has a wonderfully soft voice. I enjoyed his storytelling and character roles. It's wonderful when the narrator transports you to another time and place.

Continuation of a great series

What did you love best about Scarlet, Sometimes?

The third book of this series, I have really gotten to like the main characters and their nuances.

What other book might you compare Scarlet, Sometimes to and why?

Dead, Sometimes. It's the 2nd book in the series!

Any additional comments?

Steven Jay Cohen did a great job with the voices, again. I was especially impressed with his voice of one of the villains. I didn't know he could get that low!

A light and entertaining listen

Jason Callaghan and Trina Dane have a new strange case to investigate. Scarlet wakes up one morning stained with blood in her boss’ apartment beside his corpse but has no recollection of the last twelve hours. She doesn’t think she killed, but did she? Callaghan is hired to prove her innocence, but he’s not even sure of it.

These paranormal mysteries by Patricia Lee Macomber are very entertaining. I have listened to the previous book in the series and I was looking forward to this one. It’s well written, with interesting characters, and subtle humor that makes this a light read. The story was bizarre enough to pick my interest and keep me engaged. Scarlet was a likable character but it was impossible to know what could have or have not happened. I also liked how fresh the dialogs felt, which helped to make the characters more vivid.

Steven Jay Cohen’s soothing voice and expressive narration contributed to a very enjoyable experience. He delivered excellent character interpretations and unique voices and styles for each of them, all done in a subtle way that didn’t interfere with the story. Listening to Steven Jay Cohen is always a pleasure, he could read the phone book and I’d listen to it.
