About this listen
Is there room for love in a heart full of secrets? One year ago, before Fate took a wrecking ball to his life, Nichol was happily working on his doctorate in linguistics. Now he's hip deep in sheep, mud, and collies. His late brother and mother had been well-suited to life on Seacliff Farm. Nichol? Not so much.
As lambing season progresses in the teeth of an icy north wind, the last straw is the intruder Nichol catches in the barn. He says his name is Cam, and he’s on the run from a Glasgow gang. Something about the young man's tired resignation touches Nichol deeply, and instead of giving him the business end of a shotgun, he offers Cam a blanket and a place to stay. Somehow, Cam quickly charms his way through Nichol's defenses and into his heart. Even his grandfather takes to the cheeky city boy, whose hard work and good head for figures help set the farm back on its feet. As the cold Scottish springtime melts into summer, Nichol finds himself falling in love. When tragedy strikes, Cam's resolutely held secret is finally revealed and Nichol must face the truth. He's given his heart away, and it’s time to pay the price.

Story
Priddy's a lost soul in a part of Cornwall the tourists don't get to see. He's young, sweet-natured, and gorgeous, but that's not enough to achieve escape velocity from his deadbeat village and rotten family life. He's a drifter and a dreamer, and self-preservation isn't his strong suit. An accidental overdose of a nightclub drug leaves him fractured, hallucinating, with too many vital circuits fried to function in a tough world. When a friend offers him winter work in a lighthouse, he gratefully accepts.

Still, that's no excuse to send 10 drunk-texts on why her hasty marriage would be a mistake. If only I had just texted my sister. But nope. I accidentally sent the message to her, her groom, and his super hot wingman. I also used the phrase “super hot wingman”, so I’d like to die now.

Story
A hundred years ago, a man with a secret could travel a few hundred miles and give himself a new name and life story. No one would be any the wiser, as long as he didn’t give anyone a reason to start asking questions. These days, that’s not so easy, with everyone on social media and CCTV on every street corner. So Daniel Mackmain keeps his head down and keeps himself to himself. But now a girl has been murdered, and the Derbyshire police are taking a closer look at a loner who travels from place to place, picking up work as he goes.

Jordan helps kids on the run find their way back home. He's good at that. He should be - he's a runaway himself. Sometimes he helps the kids in other stranger ways. He looks like a regular teenager, but he's not. He acts like he's not exactly human, but he is. He treads the line between mundane reality and the world of the supernatural. Good story, bad verbal interpretation.
The narrator focuses so hard on doing the accent that he neglects the intonation that accent uses, so every sentence sounds exactly the same.
Also, he's DEFINITIVELY doing a bad Irish accent. The people are Scottish. The story is set in Scotland. It's just very....distracting. The reason it's so much of a problem is BECAUSE of the emphasis the narrator puts on the accent. Intonation and differentiation between voices is sacrificed for attention to the accent, but the accent is wrong.

Wonderfully Written!
Wonderfully Written. The narration was very good. I love the way the author created all the imagery within the story. I found myself chuckling one moment and tearing up the next over the the wonderful social interplay of the authors well developed characters. The story for me was like I was there watching their story unfold. I was sucked in.

The narrator was a treasure! It is a true tragedy that he doesn’t have more books on audible :(
This was also a great installment from Harper Fox. I’m not familiar with his work but if the rest of them are written like this I’ll be sure to snap them all up.

Sweet story
The performance was amazing. The language was lovely. I enjoyed the story but it meandered along rather slowly. I’m not sure when the story was set but money mentioned seemed very low. They had cell phones so it couldn’t have been that long ago.

Just a great story of struggle and romance!
This is essentially a story about 3 men and their struggles with life and society they find themselves in and their need for love. I found for some reason this book a little hard to get into at first. Maybe it was the narrator's accent, which once you get into it I realized instead of being a reason not to listen to the book it was one of the reason to listen it. I just loved the author's descriptions of the land, the culture and the struggle the characters are all going through in their lives. Survival is surely a prominent emotion here.
The book is just full of emotion, but it is not the type of emotions that made me cry, but the emotions that make you know that you are alive, though life is a struggle, that struggle has meaning and raw power, a hidden purpose. As a gay romance, this one is surely different. It is powerful and it is a story once you get into it you want to pursue it, because you soon understand the truth that each man is being driven by and I at least had to honor that truth by witnessing it.
It soon became a book I could not stop listening to but at the same time it grieved me knowing that soon it would be over and then once that happened the three men I learned to love and care for would be gone from my life. Surely a book I will listen to again and again and each time gain a little more insight of what the author is trying to express to me, the listener.
To me this story honors the magical love that only men can feel between each other. The power and the joy of it. Passion is everywhere in this story and it carried me along, almost making me addicted to it. I have this same passion deep within me and that passion has surely kept me alive and allowed me to endure pain and lost in my life that I felt I never could survive. This story to me spoke to my own passions, and thus honored my life struggles in doing so.
