Story
If there's one thing dragons fear, it's a kraken. Even lowly hull-scrubber Zee Tarrow knows that. Like everyone on the island kingdom of Tosh, he grew up frightened by fables and horrible tales of the great beasts of the deep. It seems an odd thing to impress upon the children of the realm, because–luckily for the dragons and their riders–no one has seen a kraken in a thousand years.

Story
In the holy city of Tova, the winter solstice is usually a time for celebration and renewal, but this year it coincides with a solar eclipse, a rare celestial even proscribed by the Sun Priest as an unbalancing of the world. Meanwhile, a ship launches from a distant city bound for Tova and set to arrive on the solstice. The captain of the ship, Xiala, is a disgraced Teek whose song can calm the waters around her as easily as it can warp a man’s mind. Her ship carries one passenger.

Can’t get enough of Livingood’s stories
I can’t say it enough. Get this guys audiobooks! The narrators aren’t always the same
And some you will like more tHan others (Frankenstein IT support!!!!!) but they are all fantastic works with great narrations. Sea fleas doesn’t disappoint. He manages to always deliver a great set of characters and odd scenarios that haven’t been beaten to death in their forms by overuse from multiple authors. Love the originality to his works. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher

Great kid story
Would recommend this audible for kids it has pirates, British soldiers, mystery islands, island native and a volcano.
What I did not like was it ends in a cliffhanger and I hate that now for the story I was enjoying it and it was quite cute.
