Publisher's summary

Isaac Asimov's Foundation novels are one of the great masterworks of science fiction. As unsurpassed blend of nonstop action, daring ideas, and extensive world-building, they chronicle the struggle of a courageous group of men and women dedicated to preserving humanity's light in a galaxy plunged into a nightmare of ignorance and violence thirty thousand years long.

After years of struggle, the Foundation lies in ruins, destroyed by the mutant mind power of the Mule. But it is rumored that there is a Second Foundation hidden somewhere at the end of the Galaxy, established to preserve the knowledge of mankind through the long centuries of barbarism. The Mule failed to find it the first timebut now he is certain he knows where it lies.

The fate of the Foundation rests on young Arcadia Darell, only 14 years old and burdened with a terrible secret. As its scientists gird for a final showdown with the Mule, the survivors of the First Foundation begin their desperate search. They too want the Second Foundation destroyed, before it destroys them.

You either like the Foundation Trilogy or you dont

I for one have always like the Foundation Trilogy. I consider it simple and easy reading that does not require you to get a score card or journal in order to follow everything. For its' day it was a very cool idea.

Old but timeless story

Why didn't I read this before now? That's the question I keep asking myself. It's a relatively timeless story, narrated well. Like all good science fiction, regardless of the time or the space where the story unfolds, we recognize the characters as people like ourselves, some good. Some not. And, more than likely, almost all finding their way in different places on that spectrum.

A story for the ages

I first read this trilogy over 45 years ago. It captured my mind and has done so at least two other times beside this. I actually started reading science fiction books right after this trilogy. The Second Foundation is a great book of twists and turns that keeps you on your feet the whole time. In the great Harry Seldon tradition, it follows the two Foundations as they seek to influence each other in different ways. Read the books, you will love them!

Awesome story

I liked the ending very much. Awesome story. I typically listen to this while taking a poop and it gets me hooked for a while in the toilet. Really interesting story so far. Looking forward to listening to the next book.

The best book in the trilogy 😊

Amazingly read by Mr. Brick. The mind games the Second Foundation played upon me were numerous and had me enthralled the entire time. A very satisfying read!!

Awesome series' 3rd installment is great!

Got the first book in the Foundation series to listen to on a cross-country trip with my 16 yr old son. He loved it so much we bought and listened to this second book as well. Then we bought this 3rd book (still on the same road trip). He loved it so much we bought the next book to listen to on our various other road trips this summer. He really does just loves this series! This book (like the last 2) was also narrated by Scott Brick who is awesome!. So again, truly worth the credit!

Despite it's age still my favorite SF trilogy

Outstanding narrator - really brought the trilogy fo life. Yes, some of the technology in the book is dated by it's being written in the 50's, but the story line is still enjoyable. And it doesn't contain foul language or sexual content which makes it even better in my opinion.

Interesting plot twist.

At first, it was a little hard read the story; but the story became more interesting to the point that when I was finishing the story, it took me by surprise. For what's it worth it's good storytelling.
