About this listen

When Cassandra Madden was 12 years old, she fell in love with Jefferson Ames, a young man she met at one of her mother's business conferences. She was a lonely child, with a cold mother, and holding onto her love for Jeff helped her cope with her isolated life.

When she grew up, she went to college and even met a man she thought she'd marry, but Jeff was still in her head. She broke off her near engagement and went to Williamsburg, Virginia, where she secretly got herself a job as a nanny to the widowed Jeff's young child.

Even though Cassie was living in Jeff's house, seeing him every day, she still couldn't seem to get his attention. But then, one day, she heard shots coming from the mansion of Althea Fairmont, a woman the world called "the greatest living actress". Cassie ran to investigate and, in an instant, her safe little life was turned upside down. She began to learn that all the people around her weren't who they claimed to be. Everyone had secrets, and until Cassie unraveled those secrets, there was no chance for happiness between her and Jeff.

I love all Jude Deveraux s books. And the narrator was good. I just thought she sounded too old for the character.

It was an interesting story.

Jude does it again

I’ve read a lot of Jude’s books, and this one in fact, was disappointing. The story had so many inputs without satisfying output. And the narrator was absolutely horrible. Read it don’t listen to it.

Poorly read, story ok

This, as always with her books, was a pleasure to read. No time travel in this one, but enjoyed it very much.

The story was good but got a little confusing with all the people popping in and out of the story line. Was the little girl gifted or just spoiled? The narrator was trying to do to many voices and got mixed up on the characters, but otherwise pretty good. I liked it.

Jeff not noticing a woman

The story line is a little incredulous, I tried to listen to the whole book, I got passed the one hour mark, and couldn't get a refund, So I had commited myself to listening to the book. Half the time, I am thinking, when does THAT ever happen in real life.

Not sure if I should stay till the end, or just toss it.

I cannot blame it on the narrator, she is better than most I have heard.

Unbelievable and I Wish I Could Get My Credit Back

love Jude Deveraux, but this story, for me wasn't my favorite. The reader was a bit odd, to me. Remember I love her books and narators, normally.

The Narrators voice just did not fit the story and for me was a distraction. The story had a good plot but was hard to fathom as the voice of the narrator was too sing songish.
