About this listen

Some things that happen in the dark should stay in the dark, but that never seems to be the case. Born and raised in Washington, D.C., Niya Brown learns this the hard way. The code of the streets is passed down to her from her mother, and to Niya, the code of the streets is law. Life deals Niya a bad hand that forces her to fend for herself at an early age when her mother and sister are taken away from her in a twist of fate. You will never believe what happens next. Truth and falsehood collide in a way that brings Niya face to face with a secret that will change her life forever.

Okay read. Too much dialogue and very predictable.

Narrator read a little too fast, like she was trying hurry up and finish the book, but overall reading was pretty good.

What disappointed you about Secrets Never Die?

I purchased this book because I saw alot of 4 star ratings without actually reading the reviews. The story to me was just a bunch of talking. I zoned out a couple of times.

What could Eyone Williams have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

A better ending and more action.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of LaShone Garth?

The narrator was actually the best part of the story.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

No!

What did you love best about Secrets Never Die?

I guess the best thing about this story was the story itself. The characters were a mix of street kids looking for a way out and their only options are stripping, drugs, or killing in the name of respect. The sad part is that there's a large segment of people who believe this to be true. With that said the story was written well but the ending was predictable and kind of fizzled out.

What three words best describe LaShone Garth’s performance?

Broken but bearable... As this story is being told LaShone's performance wasn't smooth, it didn't flow as well as other performers I've enjoyed.

Good street story

I loved this joint. Good street story from the sheets of the nation's capital. The real DC that you don't hear about. It took me back.
