About this listen
Enjoy the first two books from the Secrets of the River Series Box Set including After Night Falls and Midnight in Darkness.
AFTER NIGHT FALLS
Tragedy, secrets, and heartache. It’s been the story of her life for years.
Abigail knew that she should be afraid of him…but she wasn’t. Not even when he told her who he was…and why he was there.
She’d taken a job on the cruise ship years ago with the thought that if she was never in any one place for very long she would be safe. No one would ever think to look for her here.
At least that’s what she believed.
Gabe had suspected for a couple of days that something wasn’t quite right. He’d taken this particular job thinking it would be a simple deal and tied up quickly and easily. Too bad the client had been less than forthcoming. That never worked well for anyone involved.
Then there was the additional fact that Abigail wasn’t anything like what he’d been led to expect once he found her. But then nothing about this job was turning out the way he expected it would and least of all…Abigail.
Drama, regrets, and lies. Gabe wasn’t thrilled to be dealing with any of one of those circumstances and all three combined was turning out to be a recipe for disaster. Already it had brought both he and Abigail, though years apart, from where the towering mountains of Colorado filled every imaginable view to the forever flowing waters of the Mississippi River where Abigail had taken refuge from the danger that pursued her years ago…and still did.
Then he finds out that she has more than one home…and not the one he already knows about. He certainly hadn’t picked up on that piece of information during his investigation. But at the same time he took comfort in knowing that if he hadn’t found it…it was unlikely that anyone else would either.
And though Abigail made light of the threat posed by the man who was now taking extreme measures to find her, it was obvious to him that she was silently terrified that he would.
As far as Gabe was concerned, that simply wasn’t going to happen.
MIDNIGHT IN DARKNESS
Tragedy, indescribable courage, and heart-wrenching secrets. It was her family’s history…one that she wasn’t aware of until recently.
Shay was stunned to learn about her family’s tragic past…a history shrouded in secrets and from what she’d read so far in journals that dated back hundreds of years…there was good reason for the secrecy…fear was a huge motivator no matter the century.
She was equally surprised to hear from Patrick Johnston. He had questions about the Delasina family…questions that she wouldn’t mind knowing the answers to herself.
Patrick was making the trip to Iowa in an effort to find out if the reams of documents that Shay Green was in possession of actually contained any valuable information pertaining to the Delasina family and their connection to a certain piece of property in New Orleans. He figured that that it wouldn’t take more than a few hours to get the answers he was looking for and with a little bit of luck, copies of any documents that were worth adding to their growing archive on the historical property.
At most, he planned on being in his car and on his way back to New Orleans the next day.
That all changed when Shay Green walked out her front door moments after he pulled up in front of her house.
If you enjoy women’s fiction, characters who are strong and compassionate but are very rarely perfect, complicated family relationships, and a mystery that has no easy answers…the Secrets of the River series may be for you.
