About this listen

He’s a proud alien warlord. She’s a single mom hoping to find love again. When their worlds collide, sparks fly.

Bruge: I’m a serious warlord, not a youngling warrior in need of a mate. Ensuring the duskhorde don’t kill us, and that the clan gathering runs smoothly, is enough to keep me busy. Court an Earthling female? Perhaps later. But when I meet Alexa, my second heart starts beating, proving she’s my maelstrom mate. Now I want her, and the best way to claim her is with an ancient Ferlaern tradition: abduction and seduction. If only my entire village would stop trying to help make it happen.

Alexa: I’ve crushed on Bruge for a while. He’s grumpy, gruff, and he has interesting social skills. What’s not to like? A widow raising three-year-old twin boys, I still have room in my life for romance. But whenever Bruge and I get close, we either wind up in trouble or we’re interrupted. Even better? His warriors follow us around snickering. Our relationship is going nowhere fast, but I’m not giving up, because there’s more than one way to seduce an alien warlord.

Seduced by an Alien Warlord is book three in the Fated Mates of the Ferlaern Warriors series but can be listened to as a standalone. It has heat, aliens who look and act alien, a guaranteed happily ever after, no cheating, and no cliffhanger.

I'm enjoying these stories but...

I'm enjoying these stories and have made it to book 3, but there is some inconsistent story line from previous books. The h in this book brings baking, farming and animal husbandry to the alien community. It is odd that she has some flour that she
"made" from grain from when our human ladies first landed. It's confusing because in book #1 the human women only spent one night before they were attacked and lost pretty much all of their stuff. Especially for a woman with 2 monstrous kids I don't see how she would have managed to do all of that on day 1 then manage to keep a hold of her multiple grain mills, her freshly made flour and her kids and survive.

Also, I am still wondering why a society with interstellar communication and spaceflight has no technology, electricity, communicators, education system, written language, law enforcement, central government, science, scientists, medicine, farming, and almost no animal husbandry. They clearly know what a spaceship is but nothing else. What's the deal?

There is also the element of some magic that seems to go on with the true mate pairs which is interesting. There is a hint of some sort of ancient technology with those shoulder things the warlords wear but they are barely mentioned in these stories. The book covers show them made out of metal, but in the text it sounds like they are actually made out of wood, so that's kind of confusing.

This book also has some steam/sex scenes which are good, but also a lot of inner monologue about sexy thoughts that can be a bit tedious. I would say I like this book the best of the series so far. By the end of the book the current story lines are resolved while still leaving some larger mysteries to be solved in later books.

Good story!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: ❤️💙💚💛
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌏
Character development: 😠☺️😋😉
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Alexa - when the Ferlaern warriors offered earth females a chance to have children after a disease swept through earth and killed most of the men, Alexa decided to make a home on their planet and try to find a match among their males. She had twin sons which she is raising on her own and she was attracted to Bruge, who was grumpy and broody and disappeared for months but now the clans were coming together for the season, she hoped to see him again.

The Heroes: Bruge - He was immediately attracted to Alexa and when he met her, his second heart started beating which confirmed she was his maelstrom mate. When the clans met up, he was hoping to woo her. He crafted his domit (home) into a large area with separate bedrooms for her younglings and was ready to see her again. He was the lead warlord in his clan since his father died and he was afraid he wouldn’t have enough time to woo Alexa so thought he would go the traditional way, with abduction and seduction.

The Story: The world building was great. I loved the description of the way the clan flew on their trundier’s, which looked like massive bees. When the boys got away from their babysitter and disappeared on one of the trundier’s, Bruge and Alexa take off to try to find the boys. Bruge already feels like they are part of his family and when they find the boys, Bruge implements his abduction plan and has them walk back to the village.

The story was good, and I liked their adventure. Though I have to admit that I wasn’t fond of the heroine’s name. I couldn’t figure out why my echo dot (Alexa app) kept going off and giving me strange bits of trivia until about halfway through the book. There were also some nice steamy scenes, but also quite a bit of story.

This book is told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Stephen Dexter and Felicity Munroe. These are two of my favorite narrators and they do especially well on alien romance. I have listened to both of them numerous times before and I really like both of their voices. Felicity does an awesome job at the kids voices as well, they sounded so cute.

Similarities but differences

Storyline was similar to previous books in this series; however, there was an element of excitement that kept me listening. Narrators did a great job with characters. The next book sounds like it will be just as good or better from the preview. Hope it’s released now!
