About this listen

New York Times best-selling author Chantal Fernando returns to her latest, steamy Conflict of Interest series with this electrifying tale of murder, justice, and intense attraction.

Jaxon Bentley is a hardnosed criminal lawyer whose entire life revolves around his work. He's been asked to represent Scarlett Reyes, a woman accused of murdering her police officer husband in cold blood. All the evidence points to Scarlett being guilty and Jaxon is sure it's an open and shut case.

But when he meets his client, he can't help but feel that she's innocent and that there's more to the story than meets the eye. With a bit of digging, he uncovers a connection to the notorious Wind Dragons Motorcycle Club and realizes that Scarlett's case is a complicated and difficult one. It certainly doesn't help that the two share an immediate and passionate attraction. Will Jaxon be able to prove Scarlett's innocence, or are the two doomed to fail both in court and as a couple?

I never leave reviews but this book hit all the feels I cried, laughed, smiled like an idiot and I got angry. The characters develop in such a beautiful way especially scarlet from being “weak” to being so mentally strong. Her ex-husband left such a mark on her and not in a good way but she fought and at the end she became happy.

I liked that this story really dug into their relationship without a whole lot of drama. Yet I knew some was coming. I was so sad when Demon died. I remember him from the Wind Dragon books and I would have loved to hear his story of finding love.

Appreciated the Build Up

I enjoyed Scar and Jaxn. They really belonged together and the growth of their love was authentic. I miss Demon already. just when I started to love him as much as I did them. The friendship between the women and the protection from their men was wonderful. Loved the cameo from the MC. I love a strong tribe for a woman. The connection between characters was well developed. Good narrator

Good story

This story is linked to Irish and Val’s story from the Wind Dragons series and almost as much a part of that series as the lawyer one. It answers the question as to why Irish has prison time and it explains why Jaxon helps the Wind Dragons when Faye can’t. Given how terrible Darren, the dirty cop was, it seems very unfair that Irish ended up paying with 2 years prison time while the other dirty cops get off with minimal punishments. 6 months and community service would have been better more fitting especially when it appeared the problem was more wide spread and not cleaned up quickly enough without horrible consequences. The second half of the story is sexy if a bit slow. Jaxon is pretty sweet but best friend Demon is adorable. But the end is heartbreakingly sad - A terrible ending except for the last couple of minutes. There have been other tragedies with the Wind Dragons but this one was the worst. Benjamin Claude’s narration is very stilted plus he sounds older than the character and not smooth. Chelsea Hatfield’s performance is more acceptable- more realistic is a bit cutsie.
