About this listen

Once satisfied with meaningless flings, the combat death of Navy SEAL Cage Mitchell's best friend prompts him to retire from the military and look for deeper meaning in life. That includes pondering whether he's ready for a wife and children.

What Cage doesn't bargain for is falling for his younger brother Cameron's girlfriend, Monae Williams. Monae, a sincere young woman, is passionate about working with foster children because she grew up in the rough-and-tumble foster system. She's ready to settle down, but her boyfriend is more interested in seeking an Air Force promotion.

Honor and duty, the core of Cage's character, prevent him from pursuing Monae; but when her relationship with Cameron ends, Cage tosses duty to his family aside. Usually guarded, Monae has fallen just as hard for Cage.

All sorts of fallouts ensue . . . but Monae has already seduced the SEAL, and there may be no turning back.

Contains mature themes.

I enjoyed this story. It was recommended in a group I'm in, and it didn't disappoint. I can't wait to dive into Cameron's story next!

❤❤❤

l don't like giving bad reviews...but l have to be honest. This was messy as hell. There was no real storyline...it was just a long slow drawn out mess. I don't want to give away the plot..but how are you going to have a brother mess around with his younger brother's girlfriend and then try to wrap it all up into a neat little oh, l found my soulmate situationship! There are some lines that should NEVER be crossed. Cage and Monae were foul either way you spin it! l only finished this because it was a series. The first book was slow and boring at times..but it was somewhat better than this one. l found the entire story lacking...and certain parts ridiculous if l'm honest. l always check out the reviews before hand..and l can't understand how anyone could give this farce 5 stars! This was NOT for me. All l can say is use your own judgment..listen if you want to or not.😶

This was not for me!😐

Whew! The messy boots of it all! So first off there are different details from the first book to the second. The first book made it seem like Cam’s gf came from an “approved” family but in this book she doesn’t even have a family. And the dad changes from the first book too, even before the big reveal at the end. So I wasn’t a fan of the inconsistency.

Second, brothers?!? For real tho? Huge character flaws in these characters. For me personally, it made the intimacy scenes icky. Bc yuk. Your brother was all over that for a year. Also their sloppiness to be all out in public doing this mess during his family vacay? It felt like it was done to push the storyline forward bc as a navy seal leaving yourself vulnerable like that in public makes no sense.

At the end of the day, Cam was a punching bag in this book and it seemed unnecessary and unfair. I don’t think we needed all of this to read about him in the next book of this series.

This wasn’t the romance I was expecting and definitely not one I can recommend as a personal fave. It’s making me really question if I want to read the next one. I hate to say that bc I love supporting authors but this was a rough one to get through.

A Trifling Romance

I just cannot get with this type of forbidden love. This is the ultimate betrayal, no matter how you spin it. Poor Cameron was the ultimate “loser” in the end. He lost his girl, career, and father.

Not A Fan

First off, if we're doing a series, let's be consistent! The characters are basically not even the same people from book 1! Monae was introduced in book 1 as a lawyer from "good stock" and now she's a social worker and former foster child? And I'm pretty sure Cameron was a lawyer too but now he's a pilot in the air force chasing promotions, huh? Both books had some contradictions in em but this was just too much ridiculousnrss. And in what planet do we justify one brother swooping in on a woman his brother loves/loved? No, absolutely not! These 5 star reviews are all lying!
