Publisher's summary

A lot of people have hobbies - most of the time, that hobby is directed by their penchant for a certain thing; sometimes travel and exploration, sometimes food, and in other cases, crafts.

However, there are people whose hobbies consist of sinister things: some of them desire to kill women, both young and old, children, or homosexuals.

Serial killers often act unpredictably - even experts who study them agree that there is no telling how they will react once they have completed a murder.

Many of them become perfectionists, often using the same MO throughout their killing spree and fine tuning it to suit their tastes. Others become braver and take more risks to increase the adrenaline rush.

For others, each murder becomes more brutal than the next, while in some cases, they virtually stop - as if their need to kill had been sated appropriately. All we can say for certain is that it is an area of interest for many people and that many movies, books and television shows have been created in response to this.

In this book, you will learn of five people whose desire to murder was sated. Learn how they started, why they did it, and how they were captured.

If you love hearing about the twisted minds and heinous actions of some of the world's most psychotic serial killers, then grab this audiobook now!

Excellent Book

What was one of the most memorable moments of Serial Killers True Crime: Chilling True Crime Cases of the Worlds Most Twisted Serial Killers and Criminals, Book 1?

This book was unique due to the author choosing serial killers that are not well known. It has serial killers that I hadn't heard of before. I can't wait for the other books in this series!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! I like true crime books and this one was very interesting.

Any additional comments?

The narration was done well. One thing that would have made the book flow a little better would be for the narrator to have a small pause in between the sections of the book. She would read a heading, then go straight to the next part instead of pausing, which was a little confusing. It did get better about halfway through the book.

Interesting and straight to the point

Would you listen to Serial Killers True Crime: Chilling True Crime Cases of the Worlds Most Twisted Serial Killers and Criminals, Book 1 again? Why?

I probably wouldn't listen to this book again. I think I'll remember what happened just by the title.

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

How cynical people can be, no matter how many true crime books I listen to I'm still baffled by this.

What about Julie Carruth’s performance did you like?

The Narration was very dateline she did a great job!

If you could give Serial Killers True Crime: Chilling True Crime Cases of the Worlds Most Twisted Serial Killers and Criminals, Book 1 a new subtitle, what would it be?

Born killers

Great narration, content satisfies the urge

At 90 minutes it's more a podcast length than a book but if you like true crime, this will give you what you are looking for. The cases are interesting and it's not just "the usual suspects."

The narration is great. The editing is a little tight - there are almost no pauses between paragraphs so that makes it feel a little rushed.

Overall I'd recommend it.

Not Quite the Most Twisted But Interesting

I think like many that will have or have picked up this book, I have been fascinated by serial killers for quite some time. The shear idea of someone so wrong in the head, they cannot control an insatiable appetite for murder. The story or idea behind this book was intriguing to me; I did my high school science fair over serial killers and their similarities, so I have some preexisting knowledge of serial killers.

The serial killers chosen are not the 'famous' or 'well-known' types; such as Gacy, Fish, or Dahmer. This was something I found interesting as many books focus on the more popular serial killers. This was a new look at different people.

Personally, I think there were some more twisted than the specific serial killers chosen for this book, but that is purely subjective for everyone. I also think the subtitle is a little too long.

As far as content goes, one chapter per serial killer seems fairly appropriate for the setting. I believe some content could have been expanded, but this is not a profiling book (I love those personally), so it may not be necessary. It is a quick read/listen, at just over 2 hours.

The narrator did a great job of going through the book; although it was odd listening to a chipper voice describe a brutal murder.

Seeing this is Book 1 of an unknown series, I am quite interested in listening to newer reviews of this story.

Powerful and Chilling

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

Different crimes and serial killers presented in an understandable manner. They were not all well known, but made me identify and realize the complexity of their crimes.

What does Julie Carruth bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narration was complete and fit for the subject matter.

Bird's Eye View

Any additional comments?

This true crime book tells the stories of 5 serial killers over the course of an hour and a half. I've listened to books that were 20 hours long on just one killer, one case. So it's no wonder that this was more of a bird's eye look at a few cases rather than an in depth analysis on perpetrators or victims. It was an interesting listen but I definitely prefer a true crime story with more than a brief summary. The narrator did a good job.

Twisted Killers

If you could sum up Serial Killers True Crime: Chilling True Crime Cases of the Worlds Most Twisted Serial Killers and Criminals, Book 1 in three words, what would they be?

Crazy Cold Killers

What was one of the most memorable moments of Serial Killers True Crime: Chilling True Crime Cases of the Worlds Most Twisted Serial Killers and Criminals, Book 1?

The little girls kidnapped in England

Have you listened to any of Julie Carruth’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the first time I have listened to Julie.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. It was very short and easy to listen to. The only 'negative' comment I would make is that the narrator should check word/place pronunciations before 'reading' a book. Yuba City is pronounced "U-Bah" not Yubba, voracious does not sound like 'ferocious" , etc. Otherwise, easy listening. And thank you for the book!

Excellent true crime book

Any additional comments?

This is quick book with a lot of information about specific murders and crimes. The narrator did a great job and she was easy to listen to. I listened to this all in one sitting and thought it was really informative. I enjoy learning about different crimes and analyzing what had possibly made that person do something so horrific and this book definitely gives you an idea of what might have lead these murders to do what they did…I highly suggest if you are looking for a short true crime book.

Serial Killers True Crime

“This audiobook was given by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom.”

This book features five serial killers. I learned about several of these killers! Not the usual run of the mill serial killer book. The killers are not the most common ones most authors feature!

The narration was well done.
