About this listen

A bundle of books one (Girl, Alone) and two (Girl, Taken) in Blake Pierce’s Ella Dark Mystery series! This bundle offers books one and two in one convenient file, with more than 100,000 words of listening.

FBI Agent Ella Dark, 29, is given her big chance to achieve her life’s dream: to join the Behavorial Crimes Unit. Ella has a hidden obsession: She has studied serial killers from the time she could read, devastated by the murder of her own sister. With her photographic memory, she has obtained an encyclopedic knowledge of every serial killer, every victim, and every case. Singled out for her brilliant mind, Ella is invited to join the big leagues.

In Girl, Alone (book one), when a killer strikes in the swamps of Louisiana, Ella soon comes to learn that the real thing is nothing she could expect. Face-to-face with a real murder, a real killer, and a real ticking clock, Ella realizes she can’t rely on her knowledge. She must learn to trust her instinct and allow herself to enter the dark canals of a real killer’s mind. If she gets it wrong, her career is at stake. And so is the next victim’s life. Will Ella’s talent be an asset? Or the source of her downfall?

In Girl, Taken (book two), Victims are being found murdered in the Pacific Northwest, their bodies strung up high in the branches of Redwood trees. It is presumed to be the work of a serial killer dubbed “The Artist Killer”. Ella feels so close to catching him, feels certain she has read of similar murders—but this time, her knowledge fails her. Can she catch a killer without her talent? Or will it return to her too late?

A harrowing crime thriller featuring a brilliant and tortured FBI agent, the Ella Dark series is a riveting mystery, packed with suspense, twists and turns, revelations, and driven by a breakneck pace that will keep you listening late into the night.

Book three in the series—Girl, Hunted—is now also available.

Book one good, book two meh…

I liked both of the books, but the narration in book two is so bad I didn’t want to listen to it at all. Do better whomever is in charge of picking the narrators…

Read them yourself

The books are pretty good- even though the main character thinks everyone she meets is the killer. Narration of the first book despite mispronunciations including Chi Omega- which is disrespectful to the women that were killed, abused and tortured by Ted Bundy. But the second narrator sounds like a teenager and is incredibly overdramatic and just annoying. I was able to listen to most of the book by speeding it up to 1.2 and skipping multiple chapters at a time. I would recommend the books- just not on Audible.

Story is great! Narration of book2 not so great.

I DID NOT LIKE THE NARRATION!!!! It's so hard to listen to a book about murders read in a valley girl voice! the whole tone of the book is off because of the excitement in her voice. The first book is narrated SO GREAT!!! The character's voices really made you feel like you were a part of the conversation. Book 2 being narrated by a different person ruined it for me.

Terrible narrator!

Worst narrator I’ve ever heard. I was so excited for this series after finishing the Chloe Fine series and the first book of the Ella Dark series, “Girl, Alone”. I’m considering bailing on the whole Ella Dark series simply because of the incredibly incompetent narrator of “Girl Taken”. She sounds like a news broadcaster who was never actually hired and for good reason. Surely you could find someone better.
Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if this narration was AI generated; I’d prefer a monotone reading over this one.

Great books terrible narrative on book two

Loved the books and the first narration not the second. Also it says books 1-2 in one place and books 1-3 in another. Sadly it’s only one and two.

Bad bad narration

The narration on book 2 was just terrible. Her voice, the cadence of her voice and overall performance was just so bad and off putting. It made it very difficult to listen to and the ONLY thing that kept me interested was the story.

Horrible narration

The books story line is ok at best. The narration is terrible. It made it very hard to get into the book. Her voice is too whiny for a tough FBI agent and her voices of other characters is horrible.

Narrator in Book#2 needs new job

Liked the story in both books but the narrator in book two almost made me erase it from my library! Possibly worst I’ve ever listened to.

Girl, Alone=Good. Girl, Taken=bad

Girl, Alone was pretty well written and narrated.

Girl, Taken was a different story. The story sounded okay but I can’t finish the last 6 hours of it because I can’t stand listening to the narrator. She’s just awful.
