About this listen

From the beloved author of Kit McBride Gets a Wife and Marrying Off Morgan McBride comes a ‘sweet, hilarious and totally delicious’ love story (Hannah Grace). Beau McBride wants a wife, and his meddling little sister Junebug is itching to find him a mail-order bride. But why stop at just one?

Beau McBride reckons he’s ready for marriage. But his ego is bigger than his brain, and his little sister Junebug can’t trust him to find the right woman. So they make a bet, both placing ads in the Matrimonial News for mail-order brides. But when she discovers that Beau has already made his pick, Junebug decides to even the odds ... by inviting six more brides to meet her brother.

Ellie Neale doesn’t expect much from life–and life hasn’t given her much, except a head full of daydreams and her beautiful best friend Diana. And now Diana has answered an ad to be a mail-order bride–with some letter-writing help from Ellie–and she's leaving for Montana. Unwilling to lose her only friend, Ellie answers an ad of her own, which will take her to the same town Diana is headed for. But there's a hitch: when they arrive, Ellie and Diana realise they're here for the same husband. Along with five other women!

With seven brides vying for Beau’s attention, he needs to make a decision–fast. The only problem is, his heart longs for the one woman who wants nothing to do with him.

I'm always here for whatever shenanigans that Junebug has cooked up, and this installment not only didn't disappointment on the hijinks, but has been my favorite McBride book yet!

Our heroine and unsuspecting prospective bride Ellie is very Anne Shirley-coded, with her runaway imagination, love of books, and endless loyalty to her best friend, the beautiful Diana. (Ellie, it must be said, has a rose-leaf complexion that Anne would have envied.)

Beau thinks he's going to marry Diana, but is surprised to meet Ellie and the other five prospect brides lured to Montana under false and Junebug-created circumstances. Ellie feels attracted to Beau alongside much unending guilt of shameful betrayal of her dearest friend. She sidesteps this much of the time by coaching Beau's courtship of Diana - look, they just have to practice polite kissing, okay??

The friendship between Ellie and Diana has some nice development notes along the way, making this book feel extra well-rounded as it explores sibling, friend, and romantic relationships.

Loved this one (and enjoyed the audio reading as well!), can't wait for the next!
