About this listen

In the small town of Pine Lake, Colorado, Lisa Benoche is dead, and an audio recording threatens to turn what looks like a suicide into the first murder investigation the town has seen in many years. As the rookie detective Nick Severs digs deeper into the high-tech motives surrounding her death, he has no idea that a female hacktivist group have already set their sights on him, and that a dark chapter from his own past is about to catch up to him.

Severed Echoes is a twisty psychological ride through high-tech crimes for the #MeToo generation. Filled with unusual suspects, unsettling hacks and the Wild Western allure of the Colorado Rockies, this crime thriller will keep listeners guessing till the end.

Great story that feels fresh, current, true to life and still manages to surprise with twists and turns.

Current, creative and entertaining.

I don't normally listen to "who-done-its", but this one kept me going the whole time. It is very timely and topical to the technology of today. There are a lot of characters to keep track of, but because of the way the story unfolds, that was necessary.

Full disclosure, the narrator is a very good friend of mine, but I thoroughly enjoyed his characterizations. The voice changes are somewhat subtle, and not over the top. It was just enough to help keep track of who was talking at the time.

I'm fairly familiar with the locations in Colorado, which made it easier to visualize in my head.

Will I read or listen to another Chernov book? You bet! Give this one a listen/read. You won't be disappointed!
