Publisher's summary

The streets are about to explode…

And Puyallup’s local paranormal investigator Jimmy Kincaid is caught right in the middle of it. The neighborhood’s criminal syndicates are on the brink of all-out war, and if they go at it, the streets will run red—literally.

But Jimmy’s got more problems besides trying to keep the peace between feuding mobsters. Someone’s sending him a very particular message by sending him severed limbs. And then there’s the pairs of hitmen coming after him. Last but certainly not least, he’s got to broker a deal between the biggest elven street gang in Seattle and a vicious Triad gang—and not get himself killed in the bargain.

But when an old enemy comes to town for revenge, Jimmy finds his already fairly chaotic life completely upended—and never to be the same again. To settle the score, he’ll have to face off against the deadliest assassin ever to stalk the Seattle streets—and use every bit of skill, guile, and luck he has to survive….

A strong closing to this story

There are still a few times when the audio is poorly balanced, such as when doing a unique voice, or marix/spirit filtered.

Good Performance, but bad story

There are a few parts of this story that break established lore. Magic and Tech working side by side with zero issues. Vampires still being somewhat common, and it not being a huge deal that one is found and not hunted to extinction. Towards the end, the story also became very predictable. So much so I had to put it down. The only thing I can recommend is the voice actor, who does an amazing job with what little was handed to him. but otherwise, this can be skipped.

Weakest Jimmy Kinkaid Book.

What happens to Jimmy in this book reminds me of poor Gamemasters using Dues Ex Machina to highjack a Player's Character in the name of interesting story telling. However, it just ruins the character.

The ending salvages the story somewhat, but I only finished due to the narrator's performance. I don't think I'll buy anymore Jimmy Kinkaid books.

a somewhat cringey journey of an edgelord

Well I love all things shadow run, this story had me cringing at points. The entire story is read as if it's some noir tale, with the main character making such lines as "That was kind of an asshole move... I guess I'm just sort of an asshole."
