About this listen

This fast-paced, spiritual thriller will leave your heart pounding.

When Matthew Light discovers his family's secret, he finds himself marked by dark forces and facing attacks from all sides. With his best friend Jeremiah locked in a battle of his own, and their church threatened with destruction, Matthew must unlock the power within and fight for his own survival.

If you enjoyed the suspenseful spiritual journey of Dean Koontz's The Eyes of Darkness, you'll be captivated by Matthew's fight against evil in Shadows of the Ark.

The spiritual warfare’s ever present

This is series i first I’ve read of this genre and I’m enjoying it greatly. To be clear I’ve read supernatural suspense thrillers before. Specifically a lot of Dean Koontz (the Odd Thomas series a favorite). I’ve never read any that tied in christianity or rather that were rooted in my christian faith and beliefs. I wasn’t sure what to expect but it did not disappoint.

There are a lot of sermons and even a lot of biblical lessons throughout the book (even more so in the 1st book of the series as it’s laying the groundwork of the characters’ spiritual beliefs and journeys). I found it especially relevant given the current global circumstances. I was raised in a christian family where my grandpa is a pastor, uncles are pastors, aunt is a pastor and my brother is a worship pastor. I’m well aware of many of the subjects and sermons I was hearing in the books but related to them even more in these books. I felt myself being more inspired to read and study the Bible than before. I absolutely believe in heaven and hell, good and evil, angels and demons. I do believe in angels and that if God saw a need to place angels on earth to aid his followers, then I must believe that the devil has his forces on earth as well. Believing in one requires belief in the other. As I already stated, this leaves me wanting to dive into my Bible. My life is high stress and is accompanied by serious chronic sleep deprivation. I often use this as a reason not to read my Bible. It has also left me isolated from friends, family, church and Bible studies. This particular book talks of having the Word of God written on her heart. Internalizing His Word and not just reading it. I really took this to heart and plan to put it into action.

Aside from the biblical teachings and storylines, the narration was great too. He was very dynamic and did a great job making each character come to life and recognizable using different tones, accents etc. I’ll most certainly finish the series and recommend it to others.
