Publisher's summary

What if two had perished at Reichenbach Falls? One simple, disastrous error throws Sherlock Holmes from his intended hiatus into a tortuous journey of sorrow and remorse.

Far from home, broken in body and spirit, the haunted detective fights to survive the single most tragic failure of his career - a fight he cannot win alone. With old and new companions beside him, and a threat as deadly as Moriarty in pursuit, Holmes must find a way to live on without his greatest friend, while saving the rest of his beloved adopted family from a similar fate.

Character Driven Story.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this to a friend because it is well written.

What other book might you compare Sherlock Holmes: A Study in Regret to and why?

I would liken this to the following audiobook, My Dear Watson. In most of the Sherlock Holmes stories, the mystery is center stage. In these 2 books, the character studies are center stage. The mystery is a byproduct of the characters, their lives, and their struggles. For an Arthur Conan Doyle fan, who have read, and watched everything Sherlock like; well-written and different is refreshing.

What does David Collins bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He tells the story so well, you don’t notice him, you become engrossed in the tale. I think it is the task of the narrator to disappear into the floor. If the character transitions are not well done, or the narrator struggles over his lines, it is impossible to enjoy the story, no matter how well written.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were several touching moments, as well as several moments where I bit my nails, or sat on the edge of my seat. I, however, will not share these. I do not want to spoil the story, for those who have not read the story yet.

Any additional comments?

Completely enjoy , and looking forward to part 2.
