About this listen

A dazzling collection of new Sherlock Holmes stories, which sees the detective solving fiendish crimes, many involving methods beloved of Victorian murderers, poison by arsenic or cyanide, or even by venomous arachnids and reptiles.

The colourful cast of characters includes villains bent on vengeance, traitorous revolutionaries, unfaithful and greedy wives wishing to rid themselves of their husbands, unfaithful and greedy husbands ditto, gullible widows, charming seducers, and captivating con artists out to fleece the innocent.

Whether at a circus at Ramsgate, a magic show at London's Egyptian Hall, a deadly séance on Hampstead Hill, a pagan Celtic ritual in rural Wales or over genteel teas in elegant mansions, our intrepid detective, assisted as always by the long-suffering Dr Watson, stays hot on the heels of the criminals.

Susan Knight, author of the critically acclaimed Mrs Hudson Investigates series of books, ably takes on the persona of Dr Watson in these nine adventures, while remaining ever faithful to the canon.

Not quite as good as the real McCoy

But still sufficiently Holmesian to be an enjoyable few hours. The reader did an excellent job at character voices and accents. However, they occasionally misread the text, for example saying “she asked” when referring to Holmes.

The writer also got the general gist of a proper Baker Street adventure, but occasionally some small detail rang false. But all in all, a reasonable book for a bit more time with the Great Detective.

Excellent set of short stories

Sherlock Holmes investigates by Susan Knight is a very entertaining collection of Sherlock Holmes pastiches. The stories told from Watson vary in their modes of murder and villains and showcase Holmes’ superior analytical skills and deductive reasoning. The narration by Michael Langan is wonderful. He creates unique voices for all the characters which bring them and the stories to life. I received a free audiobook code for my honest review.

Mistaken Problems

A nice group of Sherlock Homes Stories, along with a grieving Doctor Watson; they met various clients who have a different concept of reality.

Wish I didn't Buy. Can't Stand Narrator.

Narrator uses the most obnoxious voices for EVERY CHARACTER throughout the book except Watson. The "mysteries" are ridiculously predictable and boring.
