About this listen

Zombie epidemics are bad for business.

And I thought five dollars plus your brain was a reasonable cover charge.

But you know…supply and demand…

And functioning brains are in short supply these days.

When it came to hunting vampires, I was second to none.

Vampires are intelligent. It also means they have predictable patterns. Figure out their habits and I could take care of most vamps and be back in time for breakfast.

They’re also image-conscious.

But zombies are unpredictable. They run on pure instinct.

They couldn’t care less about public relations.

Their numbers are growing by the hour.

Since I’m an elemental, they can’t smell me. It gives me an advantage that human hunters don’t have.

But will it be enough?

If I can’t stop them, it will mean the end of humanity, the end of the world as we know it.

Interesting Zombie Fantasy

This book added another wrinkle into this fantasy world of warlocks, witches, vampires, elementals etc. by introducing the addition of zombies. I enjoyed this book, but not quite as much as book 3. I liked Nikki and her companions and admired the interaction and concern that they have for each other. I found this world to be entertaining and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. Kasey Logan's narration was fun and added to the story's entertainment. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

A lot of characters

Elementals, zombies, Vampires, Witches, and Warlocks oh my! There is a lot of interaction with his many, many other characters Some of it seemed Anti-climatic with Half way through with only about 5 or 6 zombies killed. Of course things are not cut and dried and things do not go smoothly. With elementals being unable to stay in Elemental form it kind of makes for an interesting idea. There was a few occasional gruesome descriptions, and few potty mouth sentences but the story line was good.

Twist on Zombies

As always Nicky has a lot to deal with but she’s got her friends and chosen family with her. We get a look on the consequences of some of her choices with this take on Zombies. The narrator did a really great job bringing the characters to life. I enjoyed the way this world unfolded more. And we got to see some familiar faces for those who have read some of the series in this world.

Another well-written story from a good author

Shift For Brains: A Zombie Hunter Urban Fantasy Action Adventure (The Legend of Nyx Book 4), my ninth read from author Theophilus Monroe. Well written & enjoyable read. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. Kasey Logan & George Tait's narration adds to the enjoyment of the book. I look forward to my next read from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Another good book in a good series.

Theophilus Monroe continues to write a good series and book 4 adds to the overall series. The MC continues to develop herself, the supporting characters continue their roles, the world develops more deeply, and the plot and story continue to excel. Audio Version: Kasey Logan continues doing a good job with the MC, supporting characters, and overall narration.

And Nyx's story continues

I've been binging this series and enjoying every moment. Although there are a few issues with the narration, such as repeated sentences, it's still quite an enjoyable listen.

Nope, done!

I love LGBTQ stories and UF stories alike. I had high hopes for this series because it incorporated both and I love the author but ENOUGH already with the trans identity. Again, I got nothing against it but it's almost like the author was super proud of writing a trans character and decided to make sure we (the readers) understood the struggles the main character had with choosing to be trans in the LGBTQ community. Seriously it was like the author beat us over the head with it and then beat the dead horse. Every other sentence talked about being trans, the issues with make up and clothing, the problems she encountered as being trans and on and on. It overtook the story so much that when she started talking about putting makeup on in the car and that it's called "farting", I had had enough! I like character driven stories and don't care what the preference of the main character is as long as there's a good story behind it. Gay, straight, trans or pan..don't care. Give me a good story but this just didn't fit the bill. Any story (no matter the orientation of the main character) should not focus so much on what clothes and shoes you choose to ride on a motorcycle and how cute you look. Ugggggg, I honestly just didn't care about whatever the main story was anymore and probably won't continue with the rest of the series.
