About this listen

Shirley Lyle hooks for a living. She’s a big girl who keeps her profile low. But when a drug lord and his son toss her trailer, she adds a couple letters to her name.

Now, she’s killed the drug lord’s son and two meth zombies. Fed up, ready to set fire to her past, her job - and her trailer - she’s dragged back into the role she’s forsworn by a man who presses her buttons with a hammer.

Shirley realizes she’ll never be more than a 400-pound hooker. But when her partner-in-revolution, Ulyana the Ukrainian stripper, disappears, her car empty and bullet holes in the glass, Shirley reaches deep, finds her sass, and puts flame to fuse.

Who took Ulyana?

The Russian mob?

The man who beat Shirley down?

The 83-year-old drug lord who refuses to die?

When all your life you’ve been one thing, but your survival - and your friend’s - demand you be the hero...

You put on the F’N cape.

Prepare yourself for a battle of good and evil unlike any you've seen. With rave reviews from Publishers Weekly (starred review and best of the week), IndieNext List, Kirkus, BlueInk Review, Foreword Reviews, San Francisco Book Review, Seattle Book Review, Manhattan Book Review, Indie Reader, and more, if you haven't read Clayton Lindemuth's unique brand of literary noir, what are you waiting for?

This was a great, entertaining book! I was so glad that Shirley was able to get her own story. The storyline picked up right where it left off from the last book. It was laugh out loud funny! I can't wait to hear more stories from Shirley and her side kick. Oh, and Mandy Fox was the perfect narrator for this one. She killed it!

Finally a heroine after my own heart! Shirley is definitely not one of these scrawny, hyperintelligent, unrealistic superwomen. She is a 52 year old, 400 pound (hang on, actually she only weighs 353 pound) hooker who has been scarred by life. She has finally had enough of all the abuse and takes fate into her own hands. What ensues is a laugh-out-loud thrill ride including a few set-backs, despicable (and a few less despicable) men, guns the FBI and above all a lot of heart. Viva the Revolution!

My new heroine!!!

I read the entire Baer Craighton series. I loved them all. But Shirley didn't thrill me. Funny in spots, hard to follow with her three personalities.

ok but not fantastic

Interesting story - lots of characters to keep up with - a lot of inner-talk and inner-conflict - something of a mess of a story line, yet it was an entertaining diversion.

With a story about a prostitute, there's bound to be some sex. Yet, unlike some urban fantasy books that have been written recently, the sex in this story wasn't detailed. It was crude, yes, but mostly referred to sex, the whole experience was not described with every possible detail. No uncomfortable surprises here.

The story seemed dated in some places - Ronald Regan was referred to. Yet it also had cell phones and laptop computers.

I saw this story advertised on Facebook, but it was advertised with a young freckle-faced woman - and there was no such character in the story.

The story ended abruptly - with an ad for another book to finish out the audiobook.

Busy, chaotic, yet entertaining

Not sure how but Shirley is kind, loving, caring and still a badass when she gets past herself. Viva The Revolution! Can’t wait for the next book!

In love with a super-sized hooker!

I met Shirley in Baer Creighton's story, but I got to know her here! She's such a real mess of emotions and she's so relatable on multiple levels, plus her story is action packed! If you like hardscrabble lives and you know what it's like to live one in a southern state, you're going to be rooting for Shirley and her revolution, hell.......if you like gutsy but inherently flawed characters you're going to love her.

A badass good hearted heroine!
