Publisher's summary

Story
In this stunning audiobook, Malcolm Gladwell takes us on an intellectual journey through the world of "outliers" - the best and the brightest, the most famous, and the most successful. He asks the question: What makes high-achievers different? His answer is that we pay too much attention to what successful people are like, and too little attention to where they are from: That is, their culture, their family, their generation, and the idiosyncratic experiences of their upbringing.

Story
Meet a genuine American folk hero cut from the homespun cloth of America's heartland: Sam Walton, who parlayed a single dime store in a hardscrabble cotton town into Wal-Mart, the largest retailer in the world. The undisputed merchant king of the late 20th century, Sam never lost the common touch. Here, finally, inimitable words. Genuinely modest, but always sure of his ambitions and achievements. Sam shares his thinking in a candid, straight-from-the-shoulder style. In a story rich with anecdotes and the "rules of the road" of both Main Street and Wall Street, Sam Walton chronicles the inspiration, heart, and optimism that propelled him to lasso the American Dream.

Essentialism is more than a time-management strategy or a productivity technique. It is a systematic discipline for discerning what is absolutely essential, then eliminating everything that is not, so we can make the highest possible contribution toward the things that really matter.

Critic reviews
Meinen tiefempfundenen Respekt!

Just read it
One of best books I have listened to this year.
The story of Nike is inspiring and moving on so many levels. Phil Knight had to go through so many struggles to build a what now is an empire. It’s not only about overcoming those struggles but the way he did it and his and the company’s spirit.
The way this memoir is written makes you feel like you are part of the story. I could not stop listening especially towards the end of the book when I just sat I home and took and took it all in.
Highly recommend to read or listen to it, especially entrepreneurs.
