About this listen

The Vancouver Narwhals’ star goalie. The New York Krakens’ head coach. This can’t possibly be a recipe for disaster.

Goalie Brad Spencer is flying high after his team clinches the Cup and names him their MVP. Like his teammates, he’s ready to celebrate - ideally with someone in his bed. When he slips off to a gay bar, he meets someone who’s gorgeous, willing, and...absolutely the last man he should be touching.

Head coach Anthony Caruso just wants to have a few drinks and get laid to soothe the sting of his team losing the Cup. Then, that ridiculously sexy player from the opposing team strolls into the club. The chemistry is instantaneous, and a mountain of PHL regulations can’t keep them apart. After all, it’s just a hookup.

And then, another hookup. And then, a summer getaway that’s just enough time and privacy for them to get in way over their heads. When the hockey season starts up again, they walk away...but they can’t stay away.

Anthony and Brad value their careers way too much to be this reckless, but they’ve both been alone for way too long to ignore these feelings. Sooner or later, though, something has to give, and one of them is going to have to choose between the man he loves and the sport he lives for.

Shot on Goal, book three of the Pucks & Rainbows series, is approximately 100,000 words and can be listened to as a stand-alone.

🎧 Anthony and Brad’s story had me smiling and crying throughout the whole book. They were hot together and when the one night stand turned to more they were adorable together. For the most part they talked through things and when they decided that ending their fling wasn’t an option they didn’t stew on the decision to continue for too long. I liked that they tried to put their careers first and not be together but as soon as they saw it wasn’t working they scrapped that idea.

There is a third act breakup but it is quickly resolved. I definitely shed some tears during this because you can tell they were trying to appease others and it was making them miserable. I love the end and would have loved an additional epilogue to see where they were down the line too. Overall it was a great listen but I think it is a one time listen.

Great read

I enjoyed reading this story and figured it would be good story to listen to. I usually enjoy both narrators but this time it just isn’t rubbing me right. I have out this book off for some time but finally decided to finish it. Glad I had read it first though.

Good story. Read the book first.

Two of my favorite narrators and they bombed this performance. So disappointing. The accents were terrible and inconsistent. Brad sounded much older than Anthony. I picture that voice as a stout white-haired and white-bearded old man.
These two narrators have such beautiful voices but clearly don’t do accents well.
There is only ONE narrator who does accents well-not perfect, but he always sounds good…Mr. Greg Boudreaux/Tremblay. If you insist on the accents, do us all a favor. Otherwise, ditch the accents!

Love These Guys, But…The Accents! Pick One Please!

This was such a sweet story. I actually felt so sorry on their behalfs that I had to whip some tears at one point. I with they were real people, because they were a beautiful couple. A story I won't soon forget, and will have to reread many times❤️❤️‍🔥

I never write my reviewes, but!

I started this book and had to stop…and I wanted to hear the story.

The accent just made my skin crawl. It sounds part Scottish with some Irish. Certainly not Canadian. I grew up two hours from the border and never heard anything like this. Technically …. It’s the second half of the diphthongs which are more eeee than uuuuu in Canadian English. Canadians also use a very American RRRR. OK I’m a linguist…

Accents are an issue…. As in the tattoo series… where one of the characters has a wandering Bronx Queens Staten Island Long Island Great Lakes accent and the accent isn’t consistent and bleeds between characters.

If you can’t do an accent well, just read it in American English.

And, I have to agree with other comments. I think Witt is a great storyteller and I love the themes and characters, but in some books the sex scenes are so long and so boring and repetitive that I keep my thumb on the +15 second icon because I can’t wait to hear how the story progresses.

Book one in this series was perfect. Great story with a great balance of sex scenes that were logically and elegantly integrated.

Book two was War & Peace. OMG. Fantastic story and thank you for addressing triads! But could have been told in ten fewer chapters…and with better accents.

This book… I think I’ll buy the kindle version and read it. I’m invested in the characters but I can’t deal with the performance.

Ditch the horrible accent!

I have enjoyed the series for the most part. I wish there was more hockey. And, dare I say, less sex scenes. Since Rebound (book 1), the sex scenes have been a bit much...long! *shrug*

Shot On Goal was enjoyable but that Canadian accent for Spencer? Abhorrent. This book is best enjoyed when read yourself.

Series is enjoyable but...
