About this listen

Honey - 17 years old, vivacious, wealthy, a politician's daughter - has a penchant for drug dealers, mad-dog bikers, booze, sex, crank, and guns. She's run off with Cobra, the leader of a band of motorcycle-gang outcasts who have dubbed themselves the Outriders -having been too hot-headed and reckless for rival gangs. But her father, who is running for the U.S. Senate, wants her back before she takes his career down in flames.

Enter Scott Weiss and Jim Bishop, star private eyes from author Klavan's previous thriller, Dynamite Road. Bishop's assignment: infiltrate the Outriders and seduce Honey away from Cobra. But has Bishop finally met his match? Is Honey too hot to handle?

Amazing

Absolutely amazing. Sex, drugs and rock and roll plus some murder and gangsters mixed in. Absolutely loved every second of this book. I listen to a lot of them and can find myself drifting off into my own thoughts while driving but not with this one. It was captivating the entire time!

the story is thrilling. I loved the characters

the book is like a smoker with an empty pack. it leaves you wanting or wishing for one more smoke. it's excellent! The characters are very broken and beautiful. The finale comes together perfect and leaves you on the edge of your seat.

Noir Well Performed by the Author

The story is rough and graphic, as expected for the genre of these times. There is the main plot for Bishop, a lesser plot for Weiss, plus a small subplot for the book's narrative voice. The subplot is okay, mainly there to interject some philosophical diversion from intense action of the main plot. Not bad female voices by the author.

Story does not dissapoint

This is the second book in the Weiss and Bishop series. It is well done and keeps your attention. I really enjoyed the twist near the end when you learn who the real bad guy is.
Andre Klavan's writing style is enjoyable as his stories are well crafted and there is also a good amount of wry humor in the way characters comtemplate their situations.

Raw and vicious!

The author spoke in a first-person narrative, just as in the first book of the series, Dynamite Road. Jim Bishop, an associate of Scott Weiss’s detective agency, was given the case of a politician's daughter who was into bikers, booze, sex, crank, and guns. She is involved with the leader of a biker gang, Cobra, known as The Outriders. The father, a U.S. Senator wanted her found and returned before she destroyed herself and ruined his career. A related case is a feminist professor, M.L. Brinks who is being sexually harassed via email. This leads us to the introspection of Bishop’s boss, Scott Weiss who is haunted by a prior case, Julie Wyant who was being harassed and followed by a man named Ben Fry from Dynamite Road. The telling of the story is complex, poetic, dark, and very compelling as it draws you in. The competition between Bishop and Cobra was thrilling and desperate. The girl, Honey was the impetus of the competition. It’s an excellent story, raw and vicious. I haven’t listened to the first book of the series, Dynamite Road, but from recollections, action, and excitement of this second book, I’ll have to go back to get it, to listen to it.

Fantastic Read

I couldn't stop listening to this book. Andrew
Klavan is maybe the best story teller that I have
ever heard or read. You will want to listen to the
books in order: Dynamite Road then Shotgun Alley
then Damnation Street.

There are no e’s in KLAVAN

Great book. KLAVAN is a great author and writes a tale captivating enough that I listened in one sitting, not wanting even the briefest pause.
