About this listen

Raised to rule the criminal underworld.... Born to skate her heart out.

As heir to my family's mafia throne, I've learned to threaten, torture, and kill. But the only place I really feel at home is on the ice.

So when Mom has my coach murdered to end my figure skating dreams, I know it's time to run. With my hot but off-limits bodyguard by my side, I flee to a little town where she'll never find me.

All I want is to lie low and perform in secret at the local rink. But a chance meeting with two passionate, damaged men seeking their own healing on the ice opens up new possibilities—both for my skating and my heart.

They have no idea who I really am. And with a gang terrorizing my new neighbors and a stalker leaving me gruesome gifts, I don't know how long I can keep my violent history in the past.

Can I defend my new life without turning into the brutal mafia princess I never wanted to be?

Mafia princess with dreams of her own.

A beautiful story about a Latina mafia princess who dreams of being a competitive ice skater. Loved the new storyline! Again they hit it out of the park.

shotgun spin

This is the first book in a brand new world starring Lou. She is the daughter of a Mafia queen. And all Lou wants to do is figure skate, but that's not the life her mother has planned for her. So Lou takes matters into her own hands and decides to follow her dreams.
With her trusty body guard she heads north, and starts over. Never dreaming she would meet her skating idol.
Not everything is picture perfect in her new life, but she is going to try and make it that way. I can't wait to see how this world unfolds
The narrators do a great job with the different characters.

The storyline captured my attention!

Audible review
This is my first book by these authors and I have to say that I enjoyed it. It’s from multiple POV’s which I like and the narrators did a good job of brining the characters to life. The storyline captured my attention and I can’t wait to see what happens next. Lu is a bada$$ mafia princess who runs away with her bodyguard to a rinky-dink town where she meets 2 professional figure skater and starts to fall for them and the town. It seems like things are starting to get more interesting at the end of the book.

Great concept! Narration had some mess-ups

I enjoyed this story concept by these authors, it was pretty unique and I loved watching figure skating for the Olympics (was something my mom and I used to do growing up so special place in my heart) so this plot was fun for me.

I enjoyed the push and pull with Lu and her guys and between some of the guys (I love MM so I am hoping for some explosions in the next book haha). I like how different they all are: the stoic and grumpy bodyguard, the quiet, reserved one with a lot of baggage, and then the flirty and energetic/funny one. I liked how she was a total BA when it came to standing up to the baddies in town. I know we will get more in the other books so I am excited about that. I liked how her past is catching up to her, super wondering who is terrorizing her though. I already didnt like her mom so we will see how much she comes back into the picture, if she was responsible for the drama. One more thing about the plot, I could tell the authors did their homework when it came to the stunts, jumps, and lifts. The way the things were described and handled were done well (again I might have obsessed over figure skating during the last Olympics and US Championships haha).

I will say a couple things kept me from giving it 5 stars. I think the pacing was fast for some of the characters. Like with her being in hiding and knowing how ruthless her family is, I was shocked how quickly she let her walls down with one of the guys and hooked up so quickly. That and again some of the pacing (I totally understood her and the bodyguard relationship, it made sense with their past and the big lead up to everything). Also the narration was very confusing for me. It was almost a 3 stars for me which doesnt happen a lot to be honest. I wish this had been duet narration because the accents for some of the characters were bleeding into others. Like Luciana’s accent continued on Neeko’s accent (sorry if I am butchering the spelling of their names!). The one male narrator did a fabulous job with Neeko but then when doing the other characters it wasn’t as strong, accent was off. I think each of the male narrators did a fantastic job with their specific character, but when they did the others, it was not strong/accents were blending. Again if this was duet narration then Luciana would have done a great job with her character’s accent and then Neeko’s Japanese accent would be done correctly the whole time. FYI I do listen 1.5-1.7X speed.

Great Start

This is the first instalment of what looks to be a great series, it's written by two authors who work wonderfully well together, Eva Chance and Harlow King and so far everything I've listened to by them has been top-notch. This story introduces us to some interesting and well-drawn characters. It's a reverse harem story about how when Luciana Cordova, The Ice Princess, daughter and heir apparent to one of the most powerful crime bosses in the world, the Deadly Rose discovers that her mother has ordered the execution of her long-time skating coach in order to put an end to her dreams and reel her back into the fold decides to leave home and escape her mother's reach. So with only her ice skates and her previously packed to-go bag, in the dark of night, she gets in her car intending to leave Austin, Texas behind and head to Canada to a small town reported to have an excellent rink, Hobb Creek. But before she can make her escape her long-time bodyguard, Rafael insists on going with her.

On arrival in Hobb Creek, the first thing she does after getting the keys to her rented house is to go to the rink it's there she meets two of her skating heroes, Jasper St. Pierre and Niko Okabe an Olympic medalist who has dragged Jasper out of hiding after he seemed to have retired from competition intending to coach him back into the limelight by being his coach.

After seeing her skate Niko suggest she and Jasper become skating partners and skate as a pair, something neither of them has done before. After some discussion, they agree to try. While the three of them work towards being competition ready, they establish a comfortable relationship, both on and off the ice.

Away from the rink, Luciano's life in this small town isn't boring by any means as decides to force a would-be gang out of what she considers to be her town! Just when she thinks she's achieved her goal she and Rafael realise that some sick and twisted happenings were not performed by those they thought.

The narration of this book by Valentina Ortiz, Aaron Shedlock, Pun Bandhu and Benjamin Charles is excellent, each one of them brought all the characters to life and added to my enjoyment of this story.

I look forward to listening to the next book in this series.

Great story

Absolutely loved listening to this first book in a new series. It is an interesting change from what I have read from these authors before. The mafia link is there, but a figure skater is not something you usually read about in a novel and that made it all the more interesting. I can't wait to see what happens next in this series.

A little love, hate and skating.

As a result of her mother killing her skating coach, Luciana runs from her family. The family business is not something she wants to be involved in.
When she finds herself in a small Canadian town with her bodyguard, she begins skating on a small rink. Then, she discovers two skaters in need of her as much as she needs them.

The story takes on an unexpected ride, and I am not going to ruin it for anyone, this is a slower pace, with few places that jump a little, but I enjoyed it a lot and can't wait for book two.

XOXO Lottie.

Action-Packed Mafia Listen!

Figure skating and mafia was a combination I didn't know I needed, but I LOVE IT! This book was full of action, great characters, some 🔥 steam! I love the mix of male main characters. We get her bodyguard (age gap), her skating coach, and her skating partner. Each of these men are so different, but the female main character brings them all together. There's mm in this series and even in book one, the tension is so good. I'm excited to listen to more!

I love the cast of narrators! It really brings the story to life!
