About this listen

Raised to rule the criminal underworld... Born to skate her heart out.

As heir to my family's mafia throne, I've learned to threaten, torture, and kill. But the only place I really feel at home is on the ice.

So when Mom has my coach murdered to end my figure skating dreams, I know it's time to run. With my hot but off-limits bodyguard by my side, I flee to a little town where she'll never find me.

All I want is to lie low and perform in secret at the local rink. But a chance meeting with two passionate, damaged men seeking their own healing on the ice opens up new possibilities—both for my skating and my heart.

They have no idea who I really am. And with a gang terrorizing my new neighbors and a stalker leaving me gruesome gifts, I don't know how long I can keep my violent history in the past.

Can I defend my new life without turning into the brutal mafia princess I never wanted to be?

Mmmehhhh

This is my least favorite book by Eva Chase/Eva Chance. The book got drawn out and boring at multiple points throughout the book.

But the WORST part was changing narrators of the main character on the last book. At first I thought it was an AI narrating. She made it so monotone & lackluster. The sexy parts were like a robot reading it. Just horrible. That narrator should not do books with sex or passionate scenes, she ruins them.

Idk if this will be the last book in the Devils Dozen world. If it isn’t, then I would probably suggest suffering through it just so you know what is going on for future books. But if this is the last series in that world, then I would tell you not waste your time or credit/money.

slowest of the series.

i had fallen in love with the entire series and started listening to it. this collection was the slowest of them all. book 4 had so much potential but unfortunately they changed the female narrator and she was so monotoned that i was falling asleep. Definitely worth the read but not worth the audiobook.

Not as good as the rest of the books in that universe

I have read all of the devils dozens books thus far, and this is my least favorite. It was too drawn out, it felt like they were trying to hit 4 books when it would’ve been better consolidated into 3. Also, the narration change for book 4 almost ruined it for me. It was so monotone, it felt AI generated. I had to skip all of the spicy scenes because they were unbearable to listen to. It took my 2 days to read books 1-3, and over a week for book 4, I almost quit.

Great story lines!

Great book and narrator’s are great except for the narrator in death drop for Lou. She is good but I just felt like she didn’t capture Lou like Valentina did which was a bummer but doesn’t mean I won’t re listen to the series again.

Worth a read

The first three books were good by the fourth book. It just kind of felt like the story was dragging along and the narration changed. I did not like the new narration at all.

Follow your dream

I enjoyed the story, however, I didn’t understand the dedication that developed with Quentin. It wasn’t explained enough in my opinion. The female narrator of the last book did a horrible job. She was too choppy to me and not enough inflection. I would’ve rated this higher if it wasn’t for these two items.

3 out of 4

I loved the story line of all 4 books and I loved the narration for books 1-3 and the male in book 4. however, the female narration for book 4 was too monotone and automated with no emotional impact. unfortunately it took me forever to get through listening to book 4. if not for that my ratings would be higher.
The story itself is 4.5 star!
narration for books 1-3 is 5 star.
narration for book 4 is 1 star. 😔

Main reader swapped leads to a flop!

The books are great! Really interesting play on what makes us strong and “weak”. Pushes all the stereotypes!

As for narration…. If you’re like me and don’t bother with books with annoying narrators be warned. The first books are excellent! However, The final book swaps out the reader for the main character. Ugh it’s terrible! The new reader speaks annoyingly slow and her accent doesn’t fit the character. She’s supposed to be third generation American with English as her primary language and Spanish to respect her heritage only. The first narrator hits that balance perfectly and sounds 21 too. The replacement narrator is clearly 45yo and English as her second language. She reads each word annoyingly slow.

With only 7 hours left I’m gonna finish the books but ugh!!!! What a disappointment!!!!!

Great story!

First - I love when authors put their collection into one audiobook. I seek these out and this is how I found the Blades of Havoc series. And I’m so glad I did. I loved the story telling and the fresh plot with all the twists. All around 5 stars!
