About this listen
I won’t let anything happen to you.
Fourteen years ago, Braxton Kane’s feelings were forbidden.
As an officer, he couldn’t fall for an enlisted…no matter how much he longed for Holt Madigan.
Now — as a police chief in love with a digital assassin — his promise to always protect Holt is becoming harder to keep.
I’ll protect you.
Holt doesn’t understand why his best friend has been pushing him away for months.
But when Brax’s life and career are threatened, Holt refuses to allow the distance any longer.
The Madigans protect their own, and Brax is family, whether he believes it or not.
I won’t let anything happen to you either.
Forced together, Holt realizes his feelings for his best friend have changed. His desire to explore the promise their single night together held is undeniable. His resolve to protect the man who has always protected him is unshakable. But if Holt wants a future with Brax, he’ll have to search and destroy the person who attacked him — before Brax activates the kill switch and sacrifices himself.
Love and devotion. Friendship and trust. Family. It all comes down to this. Holt and Kane, together at last, in the final book of the Fog City romantic suspense series.

No indiscriminate killing. No collateral damage. No unvetted targets. These are the rules Hawes Madigan lives by. Rules that make being Fog City's Prince of Killers bearable. Soon, he'll be king - of an organization of assassins - and the crown has never felt heavier. Until the mysterious Dante Perry swaggers into his life. Dante looks like a rock god and carries himself like one, too, all loose-limbed and casually confident. He also carries a concealed weapon, a private investigator's license, and a message for the prince.

Kade has seven days left to live...unless I do something about it. I am one of the best assassins around, after all. But...I’m not sure I exactly care what happens to Kade. He’s rude, only cares about himself and his casino, and did I mention he doesn’t know a single thing about video games? Okay, okay. Maybe that’s not enough of a reason to watch him dash headlong into danger while I kick back and enjoy the show.

Though I was born with the ability to see the dead, I struggled with it until my brother was killed and his ghost was left behind. Now, I’m determined to figure out who is responsible for his death…the problem is that Detective Maddox Booker, the one working the case, is a grumpy and stubborn man who wants nothing to do with me and definitely doesn’t believe in ghosts. It doesn’t help that I keep finding myself looking ridiculous in front of the detective, thanks to interfering ghosts who enjoy laughing at my expense.

Maksim Lenkov is certain he’s not a good man. His father isn’t, and since Maks is his second in command, then certainly, he’s just as evil. The list of sins is long, and there’s no getting around that. What’s messing him up is that despite all that, in the midst of life and death, his only friend tells him he’s been a blessing, law enforcement is treating him like he prevented more bloodshed than he caused, and everyone is concerned with doing right by him. Why? And how is Maks supposed to figure out who he is when everything he thought he knew is suddenly turned upside down?

Great StoryGreat Story
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
I havent listened to other books in the series so i didnt had a context for the background of the story.
at first i was a bit lost with the story but i will have to be honest the thing that cought my attention was the jewish reference and Hannukah. i never heard a story that mentioned other holidays then the regular Christmas/Thanksgiving so it was very refreshing (that, and me being jewish and currently celebrating Hannukah lol). i loved those details.
other then that the story between Holt and Brax is amazing. full of love and friendship. it is a slow burn type of relationship and take a few years to build up. there were maybe 2 or 3 sex scenes but oh boy they were hot 🔥 🥵 i would love more lol
the action story that progress keeps you on your toe and if this was a movie i would definitely enjoy it.
The narrator is new to me and i enjoyed it and thought it was very good.
overall totally recommend and think it worth a credit!!
what a roller coaster!!

The narration was absolutely brilliant.

Loved it❤️❤️

Braxton and Holt met 14 years prior when Holt started in the military and Braxton was his commander. The two had an instant connection that started with friendship and developed into more as the years progressed. But when Holt is ready to leave the military, Braxton isn’t. The two keep in touch over the years and when they end up in San Francisco, the feelings that they had are still there. But there is something or someone that is trying to frame Braxton for something that never happened. With the help of Holt and his family, they work to right the wrong.
I loved how much history that Braxton and Holt have. We really get to see how deep it is from the very beginning and it provides so much insight on how much these two are meant to be together. I loved the slow burn and build up to these two coming together. It didn’t feel rushed or forced and that made me so happy. I loved catching up with the rest of the family and having them be involved to help solve the case.
Christian Leatherman did an AMAZING job solo narrating the book. All of his voices were distinct and you could tell who was who. I can’t wait to listen to more books by him.
Suspenseful MM Romance!

TROPES: MM Romance, second chance, best friends to,
Silent Knight was EVERYTHING I hoped it would be and more! It checked all my boxes. I knew from the first hint that the friendship between Holt and Brax could be more, that their story would be EPIC and it was! Their history spans 14 years. They first met when Holt joined the military with Brax being his Commander. Friendship was all they could have. I really loved the Madigan clan. To them, family is everything and Brax was always family even though he was a cop who became the police chief. While reading Queen’s Ransom, I could feel Holt's pain because Brax was keeping his distance. I loved that the author gave us their past history on up to the end. She also brings the story arc, that has continued since the first book, to an understandable and epic close. There was the perfect amount of heat. There aren’t many scenes, but the ones she included? OMG! There is quite a bit of angst but that only added in my enjoyment. In this book, Brax is being framed and the Madigans investigate who’s behind it. In the process, it forces the couple to figure out their issues. I listened to this audiobook with Christian Leatherman as the Narrator. I haven’t heard of him before but he did a phenomenal job. After how horrible I found the Narrator in Queen’s Ransom, I was constantly breathing a breath of fresh air all during the first chapter of this book. If you are reading this and you have not read the previous books in this series, I highly suggest you read them before starting this one to get the whole immersive experience in the best way. It won’t be wasted time. This is my honest opinion, freely given.
Epic end to an incredible series!
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
This book had an interesting structure to it - it's alternating POV between Brax & Holt, but not chapter by chapter, more section by section, like a duology, but without having to switch to a separate book; (to which the bank account says, "Yay!"). There were times I would've liked faster alternating, to see how each person experienced the same moments from their own perspective, but there was enough internal monologuing remembrances to get a good understanding of how they had both experienced major events. Some might think there's a bit too much internal monologuing; there is repeated romantic sentiment, but I've read way more excessive, loving purple prose. What made some of the internal monologuing work for me was a fantastic amount of pining, which I've realized I'm really into. Ain't nothing like main POV with desperate, hopeless pining, their heart in a painful vice, or pining that is mutual, with both oblivious to the other's pining.
The greatest flaw with this book, for me, is the title. I really hope the author decides to change it someday. The winter holiday that is repeatedly mentioned and experienced is Hanukah - but "Silent Knight" evokes the Christian song, "Silent Night." If a winter holiday-related title was necessary, the use of Light or something else hinting at the season or Jewish holiday would've made more sense; (not that all of the book even happens at that time of year, but if that were to be thematic for the title).
I enjoyed the narration - once in awhile, I'd have trouble telling who was who - not between Brax & Holt - but sometimes between Holt & Hawes or a more minor character. That being said, I do like Leatherman's voice a lot & think he does very well with emotion and pacing. Personally, I like him WAY more than Tristan James, but I know how one experiences narration is extremely subjective. Some might've liked James & not like switching to another voice. I'd listened to What May Be before with Leatherman sharing the narration & his parts were my favorite - buying the audio for this book was a no brainer & I was not disappointed. I definitely recommend giving this a chance.
