About this listen

In the magical city of Nevermoor, long-buried secrets are coming to light, and Morrigan Crow’s life is about to turn upside down.

When Morrigan is invited into Nevermoor’s wealthy Silver District, she discovers a world of extravagance and a family mystery she’s eager to unravel. She could never imagine where it will lead: a white wedding, a golden dragon and a red pool of blood.

Embroiled in suspicion and danger, Morrigan leaps head first into a murder investigation, while also grappling with her ever-growing Wundersmith powers. And although her friends are there to help, she fears that could change if they learn she’s keeping a terrible secret of her own.

As shadowy forces awaken in Nevermoor, can Morrigan find a killer and solve the mystery in her own past … before the clock strikes midnight?

Jessica Townsend weaves a spellbinding tale of magic and mystery in this thrilling new installment of the Nevermoor series.

So different than what I expected or wanted but still loved it, despite minimal Deucalion and Jupiter 😢. Gemma Whelan is great as usual but she changed the voices she uses for Ezra Squall and Holiday Wu and the inconsistency really bothered me.

Wonderful

As per usual, Jessica’s thrilling storytelling paired with Gemma’s narration is perfection! I loved every moment of this story. I particularly loved the revelations revealed about Noelle and about Morrigan’s family. I can’t wait to listen to it again!

My only caveat is that previously Holliday Wu previously was read with more of an AU or NZ accent and that didn’t come thru as much this time. I’d love to hear her return to that accent in future.

Phenomenal 4th installment in the Morrigan Crow saga!

If you’ve been following these books you know how long readers have waited for this book to come out. I am so happy to say it does not disappoint. It’s probably the best book yet in the series. However, I’m not sure what exactly has happened with the audio version of this book, but there are several mistakes, including one where they repeat part of the story in a different voice. I assume they were redoing the voice because the initial one did not work, but they forgot to edit the first take out. There’s also an abnormally long pause between chapter 1, and chapter 2. For the rest of the chapters there does seem to be varying lengths of silence after the music plays to outro the chapter. Hopefully they fix this soon.

Worth the Wait!!

The Silverborn Saga

Silversmith: The Mystery of Morgan Crowe was an OK book, but it didn’t quite measure up to the first three in the series. The storyline was easy to follow and had some decent moments, but I found myself a little disappointed overall. One thing that stood out was the subtle implication of homosexuality, which felt unnecessary and somewhat out of place in the context of the mystery. It didn’t add much to the plot and felt like a political insert more than a natural part of the story. While it wasn’t a bad read, it lacked the depth and engagement of the earlier books. Just okay—not great.

An OK Read That Didn’t Measure Up to the First Three

I’m really rooting for the perceived bad guy in this series and he just wasn’t present like he’s been in the rest of the series. I wish that more emphasis had been put on her training instead of the rich people behaving badly. The cliff hanger seems to be a pilgrimage and that’s exciting but it took years for this book to come out so we at never even see that one.

Would’ve liked more Wundersmith

I ate through the first three books in less than a week; it would've been faster if it weren't for the last of my Master's Thesis getting in the way and keeping me from listening straight through. I discovered this series right before book four, Silverborn: The Mystery of Morrigan Crow, was released. I had to wait TWO WHOLE DAYS before the book released, and sadly, the book I listened to while waiting for book 4 had a mediocre narrator, compared to the brilliance of Gemma Whelan. Now I have completed book 4, the wait for the next book will be far too long to stand! J. Townsend, please write swiftly! Oh, and thank you all, these were Wunderfully Produced and everyone involved should take a bow.

I can't get enough of these Wunderful Stories!

Might be Jessica Townsend’s best book yet. Once again Gemma Whelan brings the story to life.
