About this listen

A 2017 winner of New Mexico-Arizona Book Awards for eBook fiction.

Lacey and Sam are on the job again. This time, the ex-cop and the Navajo medium have been called out to the Navajo reservation to investigate the suspicious death of Sam’s cousin. What they uncover leads them into a realm of the supernatural beyond anything Lacey ever imagined; her years on the LAPD did nothing to prepare her for dealing with witches and shape-shifters.

With clues few and far between, can they determine who the murderer is before they themselves become the target of deadly curses and feral shape-shifter beasts?

Compelling and Interesting

A fascinating story filled with interesting aspects of Native American culture. Truly, the story transports you to another place and keeps you engaged. I fully plan to get the next one in the series.

Another great listen!

This is book two in the series. Lacey and Sam go out to the Navajo Reservation to help a family member find peace and hand out some justice the Navajo way. I'm not really good at writing reviews but I must say that when you have a great story with interesting characters and a good narrator it makes for one awesome book. I liked the first book so much that I contacted the author and told her how much I liked it. I have only done that with one other author. I have never met the author or the narrator so this is not one of those reviews where you wonder if the writer of the review is a family member or close friend of either person.

I was given a free copy of Skin Walk in exchange for an honest review. I have a feeling that the next book will see the relationship of Lacey and Sam grow even more. I look forward to reading the next book in the series. I totally recommend this book to everyone. On to the next adventure!

Out on the Reservation

bookshelves: Navajo, witches, murder-investigation, private-investigators, Arizona, cultural-exploration, family-dynamics, friendship

It's a big difference from ordinary ghosts in LA to the spirit problems of the Navajo, but that's where this partnership has to go to help Samuel's cousin find peace. Meeting Sam's grandfather was the best part, but most of the rest of the family were friendly if a bit overwhelming. So was the murder investigation. Accustomed to regular law and order, finding out that the murderer is a witch is a bit mind boggling, and seeing for herself some manifestations are absolutely terrifying. Excellent read and obviously well researched!
Laura Wilson is a very good narrator, but needs a better sound booth.

They who shall not be named

This is absolutely the first time and any book that the author got things correct. The book is well written with strong likeable and reliable characters. The plot is absolutely believable and sensational. I truly recommend this remarkable book. I received this audio book per my request and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Well-Written Mystery with Great Characters

I received this book for free. I am voluntarily posting this review and all opinions expressed herein are my own.

This is the second book in the Lacey Fitzpatrick and Sam Firecloud mystery series. It is a standalone book - but I highly recommend that you start with the first book in the series "Ghost Walk." Part of the enjoyment of this series is learning about the characters and in particular, Sam's culture.

In this story, you get to learn some of the Navajo traditions, which I found very interesting. You also get to meet Sam's family who live on the reservation. They are there to investigate the death of Sam's cousin. In order to do so, Lacey has to learn about the Navajo belief system when it comes to death and the paranormal. I really enjoy Lacey and Sam's relationship and their interactions. This is a well-written mystery with very likeable and relatable characters. Highly Recommend.

The narrator, Laura Wilson, does a terrific job.

uh oh Sam!

audio book:
Lacey and Sam are at it again! I enjoyed this one just as much as the first book, Ghost Walk. Lacey and Sam make a great team without any romance involved (yet). The author's notes at the beginning of the book were interesting. Don't worry, i totally believe. I knew from the title what the book would be about but i won't spoil it for people who wouldn't know. Sam and Lacey go to Arizona, to the reservation to investigate his cousin's death. What they find there is some scary shit! They scare me to death! I loved meeting all of Sam's family and especially his Grandfather.

Laura Wilson read this and did a great job. I love her narration.

I would like to thank Melissa Bowerstock for the audio book. i requested it in exchange for a honest review. thank you very much!

Great read!

This is the second book I have read from this author, and I must state that I love them. The characters, location and everything. The story pulls you in and keeps you there. When I sit it down, I am looking forward to getting back to it. Fast reading 5-6 hour books. My next read will be #3 Star Walk. I'm excited.
keep up the excellent work.

Journey to the Navajo res

Sam's story takes us to Arizona in this delightful series and trying to find out who is the witch in the family.
I have worked with the Navajo people in the past who live on the reservation and so that gave me added interest. I usually don't listen to books less than 9 hours long but this story is complete, satisfying and well told. It was the right amount of spookiness for me, no not the witch, the rutted rocky roads where you are praying not to flip over or high center. That is terrifying. It's nice to learn more about Sam, his background and family.
