The first book of a popular paranormal cozy mystery series

Lacey Fitzpatrick is an ex-LAPD detective with an axe to grind. Tainted by the betrayal of her drug-dealing cop boyfriend, she's on a quest to prove to herself - and the world - that she's still a competent crime-fighter. In order to do that, she teams up with Sam Firecloud, a half-Navajo man who communicates with ghosts.

With his talent and her research, they tackle troubling unsolved crimes, but their latest case is the toughest. They have to solve a murder - where no record of a murder even exists. Can Sam glean enough information from the victim's ghost to unravel the mystery, and can Lacey convince the authorities that the murder actually happened?

No shortcuts in plot

Excellent story that makes sense given the clues uncovered by the detective and her partner. Too many mystery writers plant unconvincing clues to advance the plot. Interesting and compelling characters.

I loved this little mystery

This story grabs you from the beginning, and keeps you interested throughout the while thing. There's never a dull moment. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a good detective mystery, with a little paranormal in the mix

Ghost Walk: The designation applied to the venue used by Ghost Walkers.

How many times are we fed "Something new and totally different" or "Refreshingly different"? Lots! BUT in Ghost Walk it's true. This is not your two Native Reservations sleuths or the sidekick of the crusty, white law enforcement officer. In fact this is a white female retired Anglo law officer and a spiritual "Rez" Indian who discover their niche in bringing balance to the world by solving crimes in totally different ways. Ways that are usually the butt of derision and make the headlines in the National Enquirer. The dry Rez humor has begun to seep thru the new partnership exposing the lighter side of the relationship. Pun intended!Having walked in Firewalkers moc's for 73 years, without his gifts, I'm hoping that this series is not only high entertainment but a learning process too.

Good Story! Bad Narration...

First off, I'm required by law to state that I received a free copy of this audio book in exchange for my unbiased review.

The story was good. A nice little whodunit with likeable characters and it's easy to get invested. The narrator wasn't so great, and the recording quality was horrible and tinny. There was this buzz half the time the narrator was talking that was annoying and distracting, and I'm pretty sure a dog's collar could be heard jangling from time to time (which begs the question, why is there a dog in a recording studio?). The narrator, herself, was stilted and awkward. This would have been a fantastic read with a better narration.

Narrator ‘s timing was monotonous and I was going to stop listening. Distracted very much from the story.

Fitzpatrick and Firecloud! What a team!

This is the first time I have ever listened to a book written by Melissa Bowersock and read by Laura Wilson. I received a free copy in return for a fair review. Wow! What a great book. I loved everything about it. Everything. The characters Lacey and Sam are the perfect team. They both have a special gift. One for research and detective work and the other for communicating with the dead. Lacey and Sam just work so well together and it was refreshing to listen to a book without having to be a part of someone's bedroom activities or a bunch of profanity. Thank you for a totally enjoyable 5 hours. I will be either reading or listening to other books in this series.

Ghost Walk

Lacey Fritzgerald is a former policeman who left under a dark cloud. Now she's doing security work at a local company. One morning she heads out and notices cop cars and spectators and when she goes to find out what's going on, she sees her former boss. There she learns that they have discovered bones which eventually is identified as a young girl who had disappeared 20 years earlier. She meets a man named Sam who help discover the bones. In talking with him she learns he's a ghost Walker. A Navaho man who senses the spirits. This behind a new journey for both Lacey and Sam.
Laura Wilson is a fantastic narrator that portrays each character brilliantly!

A great start

This was an amazing story that had me hooked right from the start. The narrator had a lot of distracting noise like a bracelet or something that took away from the story leaving me wondering did I really hear that the first few times. Those noises got progressively worse.
Nevertheless I trudged on because I loved the story. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
