About this listen

She woke a part of me I thought long dead.

“She pretty?”

“F###, yeah.”

“Single?”

“Uh-huh.”

“She into you?”

“Think so.”

“So, what’s the problem?”

“I kissed her.”

I specifically told the agency I wanted a male dog walker. She’s way too leggy. That’s the problem. And young. And naïve. I got no business letting her stay in my guesthouse, especially the way my blood runs south whenever she’s near. In another lifetime, I might’ve pursued her but I suck at relationships.

Unfortunately, my dog found a clue to a murder and she’s involved. If I don’t protect her, who will?

There’s something about Mr. Sexy and that over-the-top kiss. I’ve never felt anything so consuming, so mind-blowing. Then, he apologized. Now, he’s pissed. What the h3ll? How had my heart become so invested in so short a time?

Note: Steaming hot scenes, two wounded souls, and a slobbery puppy. HEA guaranteed.

A bodyguard, a med student, and a puppy, oh my!

Lilac is a struggling med student who just landed a job as a dog walker which also happens to come with room and board. This is a blessing until she meets the owner of the home and the puppy she is to care for. Slate, is recovering from a job related incident and just wants to be left alone in peace in quiet. Imagine him coming home to find he has a new sexy tenant and employee. And things just keep getting more interesting the longer he keeps her around.

Firstly, I am voluntarily leaving a honest review of this book. I thought this book was really well written. The chemistry between the two main characters were really off the charts HOT. I did have an issue with the audio recording. Mind you, it may just be how I perceived the recording but there seems to be an echo/resonance which was kind of distracting to me. Once it got going my hearing adjusted to it and I could tune it out but if I had to take a break, I had to readjust to it again when I continued. Another issue, Lilac's accent. I felt the narrator would not always used the accent when Lilac had dialogue. It wasn't always consistent. Lastly, the picture of the Slate's son, I remembered he showed her earlier in the book but then he did so again. the two scene were like mirrors to each other and didn't make much sense other than to fill in time.

Overall, I still enjoyed it very much as I felt it was a good start to the series.

Slate, just Slate and Lilac with a "c" at the end.

Not too crazy about the narration, but really enjoyed the story. Slate, a funny, sexy, wounded bodyguard. Lilac, a smart, traumatized, dog walker med student. Hot scenes. Murder mystery. Angst. Very entertaining.
I didn't care for the narrator's performance. Her accent was bad. Her male voices, ugh. There were correction inserted that didn't sound anything like the rest of the track. I found it to be a distraction.

Good story - Pretty good narrator

I am an avid audiobook reader, listening to hundreds of books a year, so I am critical of narrators. Because of this, I prefer books with multiple narrators so there is less chance of character voice confusion and voices that are 'easy on the ears'. These two things are critical in audiobooks because a bad narrator can ruin an excellent book. This book uses only one narrator, but she did a pretty good job and it was an easy listen.

I am not a reviewer that gives a lot of specific story details since I feel you should read the story for that. I will say that I enjoyed the characters and story itself, which kept me wondering what would happen next many times. Add this to the romance and an energetic puppy and you have a great book that will keep you listening to just one more chapter at bedtime. It is definitely worth the listen.

Great story. Amazing narrator.

Reply enjoyed the book. As with any audio book, the narrator completely makes or breaks it. I loved this narrator so much, going to go check out her other work.
Highly recommend!!

It’s pretty cool book to listen to

Although I was so-so with how it was read, I could appreciate the story. It gave me a lot of frustrations (not for anything but because of the circumstances and the injustice of a lot of the things that went on). It was definitely spicy and the story itself was cohesive enough that it could be plausible.

Steam, Emotion & Mystery

I thought that this was a very entertaining read. It offers a well written storyline that is a wonderful blend of romance, mystery and suspense. The characters are likeable and they have great chemistry. This book grabs and keeps your interest well. The storyline and characters have good emotional depth. Both these characters have a painful past that must be worked through before they can open their hearts to one another. I found Slate and Lilac's book to be quite enjoyable. Only a single narrator for this book but I liked their performance and I felt they did a very good job.
