About this listen

In the year 2101, Islands allow users to become whoever they want to be.

Nineteen-year-old Sylvia Grohl is excited for her first semester in a new school, but all thoughts of higher education vanish when she starts receiving strange packages at home.

As Sly delves deeper into the underbelly of Islands to find the source of the mysterious packages, she finds herself caught in a dangerous love triangle in a world where she can't tell friend from foe.

Can she unravel the mystery without alienating everyone around her, or will the consequences of her own actions finally catch up with her?

Drama, comedy, litRPG, this book has it all. Unless you want more than those three things.

“This isn't LOTRO - more like Gossip Girls Online.” (Moulder 82)

“Didn't put it down once I started.” (Ian Mitchell)

“It has a snarky, fun, bantery sense of humor.” (LitRPG Podcast)

OMGosh!! Loved it!! Loved it!! Loved it!!!!!

First of all, I just need to take my hat off to the narrator. This is my first book by Williams and I can't imagine that she only has two books to her repertoire. She. Was. Sensational. Her delivery and sense of character was so spot on, I could not stop listening. The story came completely alive! If LitRPG is not your thing, you should still take a chance on this book. Come for the story; stay for the narration.

Slimegirl is a freshman in college in the distant future where college is experienced in LitRPG. There she meets people who have good intentions and some people with bad intentions. As much as that does not sound like a good story, you need to believe me that it definitely is. So much so that I listened to this book in one sitting. It was light and funny with a genuine unexpected warmth and one heck of an ending. Trust, this book is so worth it!!

Great enganging story

I loved this book.

The author did an awesome job in the writing and bringing you into the story and get invested in what happens. There was so much funny scenes packed into this plot.

Narrator was a great choice, really brought the book to life and helped you visualize what was going on in the story.

I am really late posting this due to some personal issues, but I am glad to have gotten this story. I was given a free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Great story

This is my first book in this genre, I grabbed it because of the gamer vibe and while it was a decent book I am used to things on a more adult level. Loved the snarky dialog and how the main character dealt with the drama that headed her way.The narrator did a wonderful job

Funny and Engaging LitRPG Comedy

So this story is something special. I found it easy to like the slimegirl protagonist. The dialog is well written and, at times, funny as hell.

I appreciate that the story offers a window into what the author's vision of the future is like. There are tons of pop culture references, but they are made in a way that makes sense for someone who lives in the future.

I strongly recommend this book; it's a good slime.... erm... a good time.

LitRPG Dating Simulator!

I thoroughly loved this book and pretty much everything about it. It's hard to grasp the tone from descriptions, and hard to describe it, period, but if I had to give a stab, it's like if someone remixed Ready Player One as a LitRPG dating simulator and brought in the main character from Brittney Runs a Marathon, while running a creepy thriller-like side plot. I mean. It's just crazy, and all the wonderful things!

I really loved how the main character, Sly, is not an everyperson, she's not even fully likeable, and that's at the heart of this story. I loved, too, that her family weren't the bane of her existence, as happens a lot in YA and NA books, but her family actually rally around her and help make her a better person, not the other way around. Love her conversations with her mom! Her mom's pretty awesome.

And of course, the romance(s)! I won't say more on that because spoilers.

The narration is fantastic, too--the narrator hits that quirky snarky tone really well, and is so good at making the characters feel real. She has a great sense of the comedic timing.

And wrap it all up in a ton of pop culture references, snark, and oddball jokes that kept me cracking up throughout. I don't quite know what Slimegirl is, but I know I love it.

I received a free copy of this book at my request and happily left this review.
