About this listen

Two-thirds of American parents today think their children are spoiled. From toys and laptops to smartphones and cars, our kids have grown increasingly entitled in what they believe we should do for them.

Kids may not appreciate the value of a dollar, but it’s hard to blame them. After all, what have they learned about money? Managing finances is rarely covered in schools, and as a parent, you probably don’t know where to start. How do you provide a strong foundation of financial knowledge for your kids with these gaps? What should they learn each year? How do you teach a skill set you never received yourself?

In Smart, Not Spoiled, financial expert and best-selling author Chad Willardson provides you with practical tools, tips, and stories that will help you teach the kids in your life how to think about money. Chad explores the seven skills your kids should know — and master — before they’re adults and helps you improve the financial literacy of everyone in your household. When it comes to financial success, you want your kids informed and prepared. This book is your chance to learn together so that the new path you forge for future generations is the right one.

Inspirational

I have a 4 yr old and a 2 yr old and I can not wait to implement strategies from this book. They are inspired and they inspire. These are not only good principles for kids but also the whole family to help change our mindsets about money and how it should be used. The giving section opened my eyes to so much more I can do with my time and money. Thank you for writing this book!

Good ideas for teaching kids about money.

Chad Willardson gives an overview of each financial principle, then uses personal examples to of how he and others have taught them to their children, in ways that are easy to understand and fun to do.

This book is for anyone looking for ideas to intentionally teach about money, or even to learn about money for learning more for themselves as adults. I thought I knew most things about personal finance, but I still learned some things.

Must Read for Everyone!!

Great financial advice! I wish my parents had this resource when I was a kid!!! I just purchased a half a dozen paperback books (currently under $6) to give out to friends and family.
